Born June 30, 1976, Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA,
Angie the 2002 AVP Rookie of the Year likes to work out & eat healthily, and is said by many to be one of the fittest women on the AVP tours. For instance she also entered the Boston Marathon, and did it in 3hours 23 mins.
She consistently was rated among the best 26 for pts for all the 1st 5 seasons on sand.
Akers then started to team up with Rachel Wacholder from 2004. The partnership's inaugural event saw them reach third in the Huntington Beach Open, so Angie's 1st last 4 berth.
The year 2005 saw Akers link alongside Jenny Pavley, 2002's Most Improved Player, then Nicole Branagh, the Rookie of the Year of 2005.
2006's season reports say Akers was rated 7th in the AVP Tour for kill & hitting percents.
The Six Foot Blonde, attended the University of Notre Dame, graduating with her BA in Sociology.
While doing this she became the all-time career ace & kills leader then the 3-time All-Conference & All-District player.
Angie got labelled the Team MVP when in the senior end of her university volleyball career.
Winter 2004, saw Akers spend a month in the pro tour of Australia, where she helped win 2 events with veteran Australian partner Kerri Pottharst. Nicole Branagh teamed up with her there in 2005.
Angie was brought up in Ft. Wayne, Indiana alongside 3 other siblings. She lives in California now.
Her fave movies are Happy Gilmore, Gladiator and Life is Beautiful. Her Fave Bands Incubus, and Dave Matthews.
