Comedy history and info on Norwich City

Norwich City Football Club are a football club based in Norwich, Norfolk, just west of Yesfolk, founded in 1902. They are known as "The Budgies". The club last played in the Premier League in 2004-05.

The club was formed in 1902 and first played at Newnest Road with a group of trained budgies. This is one explanation for their name. They were a club made of bird species. This gave them massive advantage. They were ousted from the amateur game in 1905 for squeaking too often at the referee, and later the same year were elected to play in the Southern League.

Cannaries were often used in mining, but in Norwich budgies were used in the factory trade too. A budgie was trained to sound a wake up siren, and tea siren to the mining industry. One cage was used for cannary, one for the budgie. The budgie is a mystical bird in norfolk.

The most famous budgie in Norfolk is Nor, many a folk legend is told upon the bird. Such as Nor and the Dragon, Nor the budgie and camelot cage. And many keep a budgie for racing.

The traditional club colours are yellow (budgie) shirts, green shorts and yellow socks. Hence the name budgie. The club badge consists of a budgie carrying a pen and note resting on a football with the City of Ipwich arms in the top left corner. This is to say to the people of their rival town, "we own you".

In 1908, the club moved to a new home, in a converted disused graveyard in Rosary Road which became known as "The Nest".

By the 30s, the ground capacity was proving insufficient for the growing crowds and in 1935 the club moved to its current home in Crow Road. The original stadium was terraced on three sides with only one stand (Crow Road) having wooden bench seating and a roof. A giant budgie cage housed budgies on the giant budgie stand opposite the main human stand.

The club had until the sixties not made a big impression on soccer, but in the sixties the great manager "Squeaky" Sylvester Yo Yo took over the club.

In 1962 the budgies won their first piece of silverware, defeating Rochdale 4-1 on aggregate in a two legged final to win the League Cup.

The club flew to the top division for the debut occasion in the seventies with legendary boss "Squeaky" Sylvester Yo Yo guiding the side to a second division championship, with a new training regeime and most important of all a new secret diet on what he would say with a grin on his face was "bird food". No one knew what this diet was, but every fan and player ate the diet, as it was cheap and tasty.

The diet seemed to work as the club hit a glorious run and won another league cup in the eighties became a common side in the top divisions, and won a place in Europe.Winning the Eurovision song contest, beating Cliff Birdard. During this occasion it was notticed a decline in the number of budgies in the area. In the mid eighties the club built up a friendship with soccer side Sunderland. The famous club from the north east of england known as the black cats were known to send down some key staff people to enjoy the diet used by Nowich too. In the mid nineties Squeaky Yo Yo died, of a disease that had until then only been present in a type of American Cat that will only eat Budgies. Fortunately the famous boss had built up a supply of his secret diet in the club freezer to last another 3 decades.

Scandal

Then the club hit a low when celebrity cook Tracy Saucepan took over the club and studied the diet of the club. She had made a fortune making food and wanted to analyse what this diet the club was using was. Too her horror she found out it was not bird food that the great manager Squeaky Yo Yo had brought in but Budgie Pie. The manager had been feeding the whole club and fans on a diet of their most mystical bird the budgie. The city was distraught.

Now it all made sense why did Squeaky Yo Yo have a face like a cat, a tail like a cat and commmunicate with people by cat language. He was a cat, a very very intelligent one though.
