The other altentatives are regional assemblies. (Which I would also be supportive of), the status quo (I would not mind this either), or banning MPs from voting on English issues if they are Scottish. But if the later occurred then you could end up with a situation where. A government has a majority for Britain but is the minority for the English votes, as a result the government would be incapable of doing anything on education, health, transport, law for the term of the British government. How would that help English people anymore than the present situation. Surely an English parliament would be preferable. With an English first minister. Also how about putting the parlim,anet in Nottingham, instead of London. To pay for the cost of this extra parliament we could the number of MPs in Westminster by 200. After all MSPs get pad a smaller fee than MPs. Then their could be a secretary of state for England.
The primeminister of the UK would still have power over taxes, war, foreign issues, and some major legal issues.
Also why do allot of English people declare we cannot have Scottish PM just because Scotland has a parliament, they don't mind using the Scottish solders, or Scottish oil money. I think Gordon Brown should have every right to be PM. The British parliament has huge power over Scotland. Why should Scotland be allowed to be made to go to war sign up to treaties, have it's taxes, set by Westminster and yet not be allowed to have a primeminster once every sixty years. .
Also why can't we get rid of the right of hereditary lords to vote in the house of lords. If they are allowed right to pass law, why can't we have trade union leaders automatically having power in the house of lords. Too many people think the house of lords give a "common sense" view because they agree with them. That might be your opinion (it is not mine) but you have no right to force your opinion on everyone else against democracy.
I would prefer regional devolution I htink also htink it is usefukl if there is a terrorist attack on London. If London was to be wiped out then how what state would democracy be in in England. In the rest of the UK we have parliaments, but what would England have. What would stop some right wing field marshal taking over in England. I think devolution would enable something else to step in and take over in the event of emergency.
Also we should join the Euro. We need to reduce nationalism on politics. I think nationalism is for football not for politics. .
I think it is sick that many crooked politician's and racist politician use nationalism to pretend they have moral values. It is true that nationalism is the last refugee of the scoundrel because crooks often want to find something which they feel can overrule the immorality they have committed. They want us to support a bully or a crook just because they are British
I am against nationalism because I see nationalist differences as similar to apartheid.
The EU is not undemocratic. The nation is not the same as democracy. If that was true China would be a democracy. Some will argue Europe is to big and diverse to be a democracy. Well does that mean you cannot be a democracy if you have any differences in society does that mean we all have to be of the same sex, hair colour, race, opinion, religion, ideas, to have one nation. If you argue that, then you are the same sort of thug who would argue against democracy in India.
We need politics to have more idealism not racism, and nationalsim.
