Types of Pumps

Boom Pumps

These have a crane appearance.

Tend to be carried on a truck.

Can achieve 200 feet.

Boom trucks are self contained units consisting of a truck and frame, and a pump

The sizes seem to be from single to six axle

single-axle: truck has higher ability to move. and fit in confined areas

six-axle: rigs for higher size issues such as high rise. These do the increase size - higher.

The bigger the size the longer the truck. Often 16 long, so the increased size ones can have trouble getting to some areas.

Line pumps

Can be mounted on small truck, such as a 7.5 tonne truck.

Separate concrete placing booms

These are not carried by a truck.

Used when a boom truck is unavailable.

Often of a very large size too, with crane appearance.

When concrete is pumped through a pump line, it is separated from pump line walls by lubrication.
