An apartment (or sometimes flat in Britain and most other Commonwealth countries) is a self-contained housing unit that occupies only part of a building. Apartments may be owned (by an owner-occupier) or rented (by tenants).

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the second biggest city in the archipelago, the capital of the island and the head of the cabildo insular, island government, it is also officially co-capital of the autonomous community of the Canary Islands with Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with whom it shares governmental institutions such as Presidency, Parliament and ministries. The island is home to La Laguna University founded in 1792.
Tourism is the most prominent industry in the Canaries and it is one of the major tourist destinations.
Tourism is more prevalent in the south of the island, which is hotter and drier and has many well developed resorts such as Playa de las America.
The island of Tenerife is served by Tenerife North Airport (TFN) and Tenerife South Airport (TFS).
The
area know as Costa Adeje (Las Américas-Los Cristianos) comprises many world-class
facilities and leisure opportunities besides sea and sand, such as quality shopping
centres, golf courses ( 9 in the island), restaurants, aquaparks, animal parks,
and a theatre for musicals or a Congress Hall, all in a very characteristic Las
Vegas-like aesthetic.
The island is located at 28°19'N, 16°34'W and has a surface area of 2,034 km² (785 sq.mi). Like the rest of the Canary Islands, it is of volcanic origin. The

own apartments, either as co-ops, in which residents own shares of a corporation
that own a building or development, or in condominiums, whose residents own their
apartments and share ownership of public spaces. Most apartments are in buildings
designed for purpose, but large older houses are sometimes divided into apartments.
The word apartment connotes a residential unit or section in a building. Apartment
building owners, lessors, or managers often use the more general word units to
refer to apartments. Units can be used to refer to rental business suites and
residential apartments. When there is no tenant occupying an apartment, the lessor
is said to have a vacancy. For apartment lessors, each vacancy represents a loss
of income. Lessors' objectives are often to minimize the vacancy rate for their
units. The owner of the apartment typically when transferring possession to the
occupant gives him/her the key to the apartment entrance door and any other keys
needed to live there, such as a common key to the building or any other common
areas, and an individual unit mailbox key. When the occupant move out, these keys
are typically be returned to the owner.
Studio, efficiency, bedsit and bachelor style apartments all tend to be the smallest apartments with the cheapest rents in a given area. These kinds of apartment usually consist mainly of a large room which is the living, dining, and bedroom combined. There are usually kitchen facilities as part of this central room, but the bathroom is its own smaller separate room.

block of flats or tenement is a multi-unit dwelling made up of several (generally
four or more) apartments (US) or flats (UK). Where the building is a high-rise
construction, it is termed a tower block in the UK and elsewhere. The term apartment
building is used regardless of height in the US.
