Galveston Beach House Rental

Galveston is great place for beach vacations. Beach houses as you would exepct are all over the beaches. You can rent the beach houses. There are many beach houses for rental usage. Some are exclusive due to the view and weather in the area. Beach housing is a useful as a status symbol too. Many provide luxury.

Galveston is a city in Galveston county, on an island on the Texas Gulf Coast. It has largely been overshadowed by the nearby megacity of Houston, but remains a port of entry and a destination for almost all the cruise ships with ports of call in Texas. Many Houstonians have beach houses in Galveston or elsewhere in Galveston County where they sometimes relocate during the summer, or simply drive to Galveston to enjoy the local beach.

Galveston is a city and the seat of Galveston County located along the Gulf Coast region in the U.S. state of Texas within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area. As of the 2005 US Census estimate, the city had a total population of 57,466. Galveston is accessible by a causeway linking Galveston Island to the mainland on the north end of the city, a toll bridge on the western end of the island, and by ferry boat service on the east end of the city.

In the 2000s, property values rose after expensive projects were completed and demand for second homes increased. This led some middle class families to move from Galveston to other areas such as League City, Texas City, and La Marque.

Scholes International Airport (IATA: GLS) - This is the only airport in Galveston, but only serves private and chartered flights.
William P. Hobby Airport (IATA: HOU) - One of two airports in Houston providing scheduled commercial flights into the metro area, and the closest commercial airport to Galveston. It is dominated by Southwest Airlines.
George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IATA: IAH) - Also in Houston (named after the elder President Bush). Dominated by Continental Airlines. Allow at least 90 minutes to drive from IAH to Galveston, more during rush hour. IAH asks passengers to arrive 2 hours before check-in.

The Strand District, in downtown Galveston, Texas (USA), is a National Historic Landmark District of mainly Victorian era buildings that now house restaurants, antique stores, and curio shops. The area is a major tourist attraction for the island city and also plays host to two very popular seasonal festivals. It is widely considered the island's shopping and entertainment center.
