The State of Hawaii is a state in the United States, located on an archipelago in the central Pacific Ocean southwest of the continental USA, southeast of Japan, and northeast of Australia. The state was admitted to the Union on August 21, 1959, making it the 50th state.

Now the state capital, Honolulu is located along the southeast coast of Oahu. The previous capital was Lahaina, Maui. Some major towns are Hilo, Ka-ne'ohe ( Ka-neohe ), Kailua, Pearl City, Waipahu, Kahului, Kailua-Kona, Kihei (Ki-hei), and Lihue (Li-hue).

These towns may offer some great potential for a vacation. Vacations in these areas may be super.

The Hawaiian Islands, once known as the Sandwich Islands, form an archipelago of 19 islands and atolls, numerous smaller islets, and undersea seamounts trending northwest by southeast in the North Pacific Ocean between latitudes 19° N and 29° N. The archipelago takes its name from the largest island in the group and extends some 1,500 miles from the Island of Hawaii in the south to northernmost Kure Atoll. Excluding Midway, which is an unincorporated territory of the United States, the Hawaiian Islands form the USA State of Hawaii.

Aviation is an important part of Hawaii’s transportation network, as most interisland travel takes place using commercial airlines. Hawaiian Airline companies use jets to travel between the larger commercial airports in Honolulu, Lihue, Kahului, Kona, and Hilo.

Sandy Beach is on the South Shore of Oahu in Hawaii. It is known for its shorebreak and for its bodyboarding and bodysurfing. The area is also known for its strong current and dangerous shorebreak. Unexperienced bodyborders, bodysurfers, and swimmers should stay out of the water.

Makapuu is the extreme eastern end of the Island of Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands, comprising the remnant of a ridge that rises 197 meters above the sea. The cliff at Makapuu Point forms the eastern tip and is the site of a prominent lighthouse. The place name of this area, meaning bulging eye in Hawaiian, is thought to derive from the name of an image said to have been located in a cave here called Keanaokeakuapo-loli. The entire area is quite scenic and a panoramic view is presented at the lookout on Kalanianaole Highway where the roadway surmounts the cliff just before turning south towards leeward Oahu and Honolulu.

Waimea Bay is located in Haleiwa on the North Shore of O‘ahu in the Hawaiian Islands at the mouth of the Waimea River. Waimea Valley extends behind Waimea Bay. Waimea means Red Water in Hawaiian.
