Heather Bown is the daughter of Rosemary and Skip Bown, and has a sister called Alicia.
She has always been a tall girl, she majored in psychology at the University of Hawaii and then University of California.
She wanted to do swmimming when she was younger. and was very competitive at it. But then in college, she was going into a Volleyball Club to get a pal of her's. But then the coach at a Volleyball Club in Anaheim, saw the then high school sophomore, the coach of Magnum Charlie Wade. Could not belive his eyes at how tall she was, and well built for volleyball, He thought it was amazing. He says he thought he had died and gone to Disneyland, as she said she was not a volleyball player. so he knew he had made a great find. As she looks fit and is 14 stones an amazing thing for any woman. He said it was like a gift falling from heavan.
Quite quickly she moved onto be among the best players in the League. One freshman in her team, claimed she would not want to play her at all, and even consider running away as of her immense hitting power.
She soon won a award as a All-American.
She is so intimidating a figure in sport, that once, she was in a line up for measuring, nad there were American football players behind her, in jump testing, but then as she was so fit, they decided they did not want to be outclassed by a woman, after all even though Volleyball has among the most feminine physiques there is, and she still looks like a volleyball player, they could see she might do better than them. How hilarious, thats just like something out of Supergirl, or Superman.
She says she liked volleyball more than swimming after all, as the practice allows her to talk more, while swimming does not h vae that ability.
In a way though she did not like the pressure of volleyball, as she wanted to have more fun, I think,
When she was 21, she was still more of a novice than most people, and was being driven by one person once saying she would never be a top player, a teacher in school. But in the end, she has rweached the US National Women's Volleyball Team.
I bet in school, men a couple of years older than her would have thought she was couple of years older. They would have said, hello oldest year pupil person, do you know about this, thinking she'd know more, and maybe she would have known more, then they'd have felt amazed about her.
She was even asked to play for a Italian Volleyball Professional Team when she was a Novice. She went on to learen Italian at the team.
She drives a Silver land Rover in 2006, listens to Tim McGraw, Six Pence non the Richer, Evenescence, Rascal Flatts
She still wants to be a Sports Psychologist,
She very much likes talking to people, and does not like tv much.
If she had a super power, she said she would like to have the power of Time Warping.
She comes from both Hawaii and California in a way, I suppose they do have a image of being the 2 healthiest states in the USA. So a 6 foot 3 woman, who is not big from afar, really, coming from there is quite possible.

2000 Rank 2nd in hit % (.312), aces (23) and blocks (67) among starters
Played 1st international against top-ranked Russia, posting 2 kills in 2 sets played
Played in Olympics
2001 Earned Best Attacker award at NORCECA Zone Championship
2002 Won a silver medal at the 2002 Women's Volleyball World Championships, played in all matces, and got 12 pts a game

USA to Bronze at World Cup
