Continued from The Highland Clearances and it's full terribleness
In the Highland
in the 18th Century more now lowland and England schooled Chiefs want the weaker
in power than them over their people's in many ways S-elite's wealth, They up
rents, bribe guards, & evict, from now on,
While probably 5600 people stopped
being sharecroppers, In the Highlands as of changes, after 1745,
And 10,000
in 1690-1745, of feudal values breaking down, As of more trade & transport
with a liberalising freer England,
That would have happened, with or without
the landlords,
And 100,600 in the rest of Scotland,
And 10,600 Scots in
1800-25, ending that system there, Spread from about the Highlands, & Scotland
equally, But the evictions were a different thing, That were the only thing the
landlords had control over totally anymore,
As political power had been leaving
them in past Cs,
And they used this, this Anglicised, & Celtic and English
elite to evict,
With government acceptance, & anger by the people, of the
Highlands, & Scotland & Britain,
At this rightist abuse, A like what
occurred in 1995, Bosnia, Many heavy cloths, towel wearing peasants rapped in
clothes were burned from homes, Off their own land, usually in 100s, or 10s,
Off
dark-green Rory forest, where a brown squirrel eats some nuts, Holding some in
it's big cheeks & laying them in a winter hole,
Scurrying up the tree,
looking for more, with red squirrels, & some grey ones coming from the S,
Plus
Uist, Islay, other isles, of 10s of peasants, And lands where they hunted for
some of their produce, of birds, & such, Adding a squirrel to a pie,
Like
red & black pheasants, orange, That it tastily with eggs in the cooking pot,
After
walking around the purple heather, Shoots as high grass, as thick each as toothbrushes,
Or
in the, Capercalie, that was blacker, With more tail, That could rise like a peacocks
feathers, & red round the head,
And went through far bushier lands, hiding
in the undergrowth, With a different crying squawk,
That sounded more like
a plucking of a bottle top, than the bird noises of grouse,
Sometimes although
there are few, they are in forests, and charge at people,
When in breeding
season, on small mounds in them,
And at eachother, though rarer and more in
forests than browner,
Far commoner grouse, But was nor that common a species,
And
also pinemartins, that look like a cross between a cat & squirrel, That walk
along trees, And come down & eat what Highlanders also ate rabbits, Which
pounded their feet to stop them attacking, From winter of this green and brown
valleys covered in snow,
To Summer, when it can get to 20s degrees celsius,
With
a moorland landscape, only good for cattle rearing,
Seeing on occasions the
land now green and brown,
And a herd of deer running along a far away hill,
And
in the near, a small stream flowing fastly down these slopes,
And it sploshing
a high white over some rocks in the heat over a bit then down some drops,
Of
past mud sides, of the burrow of a river it has created, And also hares, &
wildcats,
These species not found in the rest of Britain, you just get real
cats there,
With cows moved through streets, as they would be till after 2005,
In some areas, small villages, to other parts of the village,
Like in these
Highlands areas, & parts of Africa, etc. etc., Plus of course fish, like kipper,
or smoked fish, that falls apart from the bones, Of it's soft white flesh that
has the scent of wood still there,
Or some a small rabbit they caught in the
holes, & using it's fur for a item, Or oats, growing, cattle herding from
huts subsistence, that were stacked aside, With stone, as rubble made, With straw
& grass roots, & a hole for entry, with some doors,
It would have been
a tough life,
And if you were the whipping boy, mocked & such even more
so, They, the now establishment clan leaders, And evict 10/25,000 Sutherlanders,
Paying stewards & agents, becoming very wealthy,
Replacing them, were sheep
farming estates, That evict many, used by crofters, who came & took their
chance, it was not their fault,
We all now whose fault it was, it was the money
grabbing millionaires rich wealthy,
And the rich's fun pheasant shooting parks,
As many socialists, say, the rich wrote the law, So it favours the rich,
Small
huts see families made to leave immediately or on very short weeks, orders,
Old
women, with their tartan blanket off their back, surrounding them, Bent over walking
from them on fire hut,
And young men in trousers, Or shirts forced to leave
under humiliating orders, hairy legs, like me,
Forced to march to somewhere
else, go & live somewhere else, with their family or else, The Highland clearances,
then started to occur,
1000s were expelled in the 18thC, 0.16-0.2mil were evicted
in the 19thC, Mostly by the middle of the C,
12000-1/3die, in the second C,
of the calamity,
We can say it started in 1782, with a eviction from a loch,
And
that it saw in 1739, some chiefs sell some clansmen, to the Carribean,
In situations,
entire isles would see all but one family kept, like Rum, Partly of being forced
to high death cities, Of famines on coasts, & such,
Or being forced onto
ships, that were dangerous,
By propaganda of them being okay, or of their opportunities,
As
people play shinty,
A form of hockey along the grass hitting the ball through
posts,
Which had been played since the middle ages,
With people shooting
through the goal posts for their local clan or village, My statistic has some
bases,
My claim is around 650 died of fatigue in the immediate impact of quick
evictions,
Thats including old frail people, & people dying later, of disease
from this,
That then adding on tenants who it is proven did die, on occasions,
Unable to get jobs, on the coast,
In such a area, with few skills, & often
Gaelic stopping them getting some jobs, & religion,
As discrimination against
them would have been huge, unlike against English speaking,
Which their heirs
learned, Lets say cholera forced kill many on ships, unaccounted for,
I mean
their cholera stats, Are not included normally for either the place they arrived,
or Britain,
Maybe being evicted during times of epidemics, in cities was genocidal,
Lets
say 7000 died of ships sinking, & people dying there,
Even if you think
they left of own accord, Which they did not as they had options,
They had only
this option, or to full urban areas, or towns, Where there were no jobs, &
monopolies,
And the state did nothing to make the ships better than what they
were, Lets face it you can not say a free society movement where 7000, of 100,000
die, Is better than a unfree society movement where 50 of 100,000 die, of moving,
And that does not include the many, Who died of cholera or famine, or as settlers
in Canada,
Who I include in other stats, And they did not have a choice they
had the city, or there, no option, With the city a deadly environment aswell,
as of difficulties in getting a new job,
And no real right, to know had bad
the ships, were, with little information,
And also the fact that they were
sent at that time, Lets say 1000 of having no training so dying on coasts unable
to get jobs, in the cities, Added to other totals,
2000 minimum of famines,
& dying on the coast, & of low resources for new settlers on the coast
there, And 2000 of moving to cities during epidemics, and in N-America, of little
resources,
You know lots died there, of having nothing,
Or the main bread
winner dying on the ship, Or surely having to go to hard places, with little resources,
With few places renting to so many people,
Sometimes in times of poverty, having
nowhere to go,
Or going then to places in unpeopled areas, that were then hit
by famines,
Or had no ability to survive maybe that sort of thing can add 100s
to Canada's deaths,
And also 100s to S-America's, And 2000 of pregnancies going
wrong, & pregnant women, dying etc. etc., on the immediate evictions,
On
way to the Scottish coast, or cities, forced to leave immediately,
Or old people,
dying, on the way, disabled hardly able to walk,
And 2000 in other famines
in the 19thC, other than the 1830s & 1840s,
Famines probably ended by the
1870s, And actually you could say the moving to cities was all bad, & unfair,
And that the famines, And as I say I think, maybe 10,000 or more dying, some maybe
of families having to leave,
So the Clearances spitting families that would
not have split otherwise,
Who would then die very soon, in hard life, or something,
with no social security,
As without the Clearances they would not have been
split, and had to have left,
Yes that may happen in any situation, but not
so forced, and unfair,
And as of the population death rate being higher in
cities, than rural areas, for those who went there,
Especially in poor areas,
For part of the era, considering they were forced there, For each generation forcibly
moved there,
I suspect it is OK to say that these were forced deaths,
As
it was here, ships, or famines, on coasts, I mean that they would have had to
go top the poorest area of cities, If surviving coastal famines,
Then got job
in the worst places, of highest death rates,
I suppose if you were actually
born in those places it would not be a povicide in a way,
But they had already
lived there & are just included in normal povicide stats, But normally just
as they have a higher death rates than other places, It does not mean a povicide,
but does in a way,
I mean you can not say that, but to be forcibly evicted
& sent there, Is worse than job losses, or normal evictions, As in normal
evictions, people can then see lots of new places to go to, Or a long amount of
time, to be able to go,
Or many job offers, but here the evictions were so
quick, & were of so many, It was normally unsustainable amounts for people
evicted,
And the people had been paying rents & had nowhere to go, And
no welfare services for them, & in rural areas that is bad normally, but in
most there are other places to go or get jobs, But here that was not possible,
& they had to leave huge estate across large territories as 1000s, And so
then massively was very difficult to cross this land, & territory,
And
so this was unfair, & they had to emigrate to tough cities in ways of unfairness,
That if they were given more time to choose to go to, it would not have been so
bad,
Or they could have had better chances, or got jobs there, Or chosen to
move to cities on their own way,
At their own choice, & gone to the best
areas, where jobs were better, Or where they could base themselves in places more
easily, Lets say half the people in such bad areas, Would be povicide deaths or
a twenty fifth or something, Here the fact they had to go there, was forced by
the lords to go, As there would have been jobs here, And no opportunities here,
A
the whole areas were feudally owned, in a way by the monarchs, But in this case
they were such a huge amount, that they could not do anything else,
So it was
so unfair, in other ways, Not like a proper eviction it was brutal evictions from
entire areas, to new areas, That they did not know about, So many died on famines
or had to go to places they had no chances of getting jobs in,
So had to make
new starts in life they had not planned, for, & where they would not have
moved to in other ways,
So it was all as of the right's fault, & each had
no planning for them before, Or swamped places, so died like refugees,
I suppose
you could say that it was like any eviction but it was not, As this was swamping
evictions & a policy so they were pushed into harder ways,
And so it was
different to normal evictions, & as they had in such a rural area, less history
of capitalism, & feudalism, So less ability to be take on new employees,
Especially
since, in most ways, the land, was just held in trust by the owners,
And they
had no right to evict them,
And no welfare, so people had to move huge distances,
As there were no new jobs really to get like most sackings or evictions, And it
was not like normal evictions then,
As in those you have the option of a new
village to go to, or town, or near job or town,
Here the options were, a coast
to starve in, then, A new choice try & help build a new village, with no resources,
Not
even the lack of resources, As free settlers in the US had forests to take, but
here just little as so much was owned, Or be there, & say either emigrate
abroad on ships,
Ships that were far worse than those emigrating in the S,
As
here it was for comparative mass scale, & for poorer people,
And the aristos
were supporting emigration, launching groups for that,
So they were to blame
for not making the ships better, Yes there were some good ships,
But most were
for mass scale & worse, And how the fact they were evicted from large estates,
And
so had to cross huge areas,
And had no jobs to get in times of crisis, with
no skills, & no planning, Unlike most short term evictions where they can
get a new job in a new place,
Or long term evictions, where they can get some
planning, & then hope, And plan what to do when they leave,
With help from
others, & help from family, Even if there were any long term evictions here
they were unfair, As of no planning & the evictions being of entire families,
& communities, who so had nowhere to go, like to friends as they had been
evicted to,
And no state welfare & no state help, & the fact new places
they went to all had different cultures,
And they either starved in small,
villages on the coast, Emigrated as the government & aristos wanted,
Or
had the fact they could not get many jobs, In local Gaelic speaking areas as there
were so many going there,
And the Highlands were not a boom area anyway, &
they could not say start fishing with no resources, And no land, & no jobs,
that's no jobs, not even rubbish ones, As the landowners did not need them, And
they had nothing to sell, & could not live off the state, or welfare here,
Or get a quick, job, they had to go somewhere else,
And so it was badder LE
cities, that at least had some jobs, the main lure, or emigration,
And also
some offers of maybe making a great living,
Though not like the American dream,
where people felt they could become rich,
Not that America had that that much,
except in Gold mining, getting ranches or more, Or the small number who could
pass the coastal famines & get jobs, The same way some people survive line
ups of people to be shot & massacred, So really y the was on masse forced
evictions, Not like the evictions of somebody from a house,
As there was no
family system, or welfare system to support them, & they now had tough choice
of where to go,
When normally people do have those connections, other places
they can get jobs, As even in bad economies there will be some jobs, & some
homes to rent, of a good choice,
But even in a good economy, there would be
too few jobs, & shops in such a low population area, Especially as they were
evicted from the whole place where they needed the jobs, And all that would be
available was, A few villages too small to offer them much charity or jobs, or
slightly near big towns, Just as low in opportunities, for so many,
And the
far away cities, & ships, They were being told by the state to go to, like
telling a boy to enter a lions den, Is a democide so is telling large groups of
emigrants to go abroad, on bad ships, Or there was the option of moving to the
big cities, & living in poorest areas, as the poorest,
With other people's
talents easier to get jobs here as they spoke English, & had more skills,
& education,
After a stressful event that would have hurt most people,
Seeing some people died in most evictions, And somebody else was making the eviction
of their entire village,
A unhopeful devastating event, far worse than most
normal evictions,
So the town deaths of people actually evicted are included,
too, here, & I am not including all the fact,
That they died younger, as
of being pushed to cities,
And of this then so all democidal, as it was such
a democide & a large process, And actually the tribal leaders were supposed
to protect the clans, so held land in trust,
And really had no right to do
this to the people, of evicting them, & had no real right to evict them,
They
would not have been fair in any way, So it was not like a normal eviction,
As
it was to people unfairly evicted, Yes many people are evicted from places as
the owners are knocking down the house, Or reforming the building, but this was
worse as it devastated entire family systems, In a place not use traditionally
to this brutal form of capitalism, And change in society akin to change from Communisation
to Capitalism, This change was a quick change from semi-feudalism, too brutal
capitalist eviction, In a society unable to handle this, As of landlords doing
the evictions controlling society, And it was not like normal evictions, as it
was done to so many, In an area unused to this, in a cold area,
Where there
were few available jobs, or chances, Unlike if it was just of a single person,
or family in which case there would be, then,
So it was not like a normal eviction,
And
people were told they should emigrate & go to cities,
With no attempt by
the state there to help people evicted,
And no attempt to say go to Inverness,
& here's some help,
As they were told to leave of entering Inverness, Where
as stats show the population did not increase, As moving to Inverness was not
a great place to go in those days,
As it had so opportunities at the time,
as the state did not invest, & society, Was not based on welfare, So this
perfect base as a capital of welfare for the people, & a society for the people,
& services, And hospitals to bureaucracy, & such,
Had little investment,
& so all emigration for opportunities, was to places where life would get
worse,
And this was aristos, & the regime & landlords fault, As they
knew the tenants who they did not help or compensate would suffer, While in cases
they became richest in Britain,
Except for some places which had some Highlanders
settling, But that was the maximum, & many of them died,
In coastal famines
or low resources,
Which would not have been so bad in single evictions, Or
in a system where they helped people leave, Or where they were not so brutal to
the people, & where they did not say leave,
So the most murderous thing
was fatigue from brutal evictions, Then telling people to go on mass industry
bad ships, Then telling people to go to coasts, where they had no jobs, As the
society was controlled by landlords, & there was no welfare despite all the
rent, & tax to government, to the elite from Highlanders, & the population,
& rich who were only rich as they were fellow lower class people, Who made
themselves rich by own efforts, But were from that class so should have helped
them, Or the inherited rich, Who all in some way were rich as of rents from the
poor, And the next worst death way, was people dying in cities of less jobs, And
poverty & lower LE's than rural areas,
As other rural areas, would not
offer new jobs, As of the agricultural revolution which landlords new of, And
the fact there were other natives speakers, with more knowledge of those areas,
And family networks getting the jobs for them to get jobs there,
So the cities
were the only realistic places,
And last was the way how some died of riots,
All this was worse as apparently the normal stat of 500 or so dead, In the 1840s
highland famine, Of dispersed epidemics a high amount, for the 300,000 people,
Was not that much, people, As it was probably more,
But the population stopped
growing in 1840s,
At a time of massive European population growth, So maybe
far more died, & in the 1830s famines, I would guess 2000, in the 1830s famine,
And 5/20,000 in the 1840s famine, lets say it was 20,000, who died, So then in
total, possibly 27,000 died of the19thC Highland Clearances, Mostly of having
to go to towns,
Which in early days, as of undemocratic lordly exploitation,
Had low capitalist dog eat dog, to the winners all the spoils, Lowest form of
capitalism conditions,
So very for them,
And then add the famine deaths
so you get a huge number, for the Highlands,
Making this area, often insulted
in far right racist ways in the 19thC by elite as bad a area, As Ireland almost,
And the famines that came with it I accept, I say 9,000 in famines in the Highlands,
In the 18thC, at the very least, Probably double or treble, or quadruple,
Plus
some in famines in 18thC, & some low 1000s, Dying of the Highland Clearances
in the last C,
This then caused by terrible people, Many starved to death,
after being evicted form homes, huddled together, on coats, Or valleys,
Low
singles actually died in riots & real political murders,
No one was found
guilty
And the lords became richest on Britain,
Some Highlanders had been
sold as servants in 1730s to Carolinas, Before the clearances Wales, was 1.5 times
the Highlands population, After it, it was 3.5 times as populous,
And that
with Inverness growing as a city, & not declining,
Meaning rural populations
fell allot,
And some crofters immigration, & new jobs, A city which suffered
a 1831, A cholera epidemic blamed on the refugees around the Highlands,
So
it banned many incomers, from flooding too it,
Which was twice as bad as London,
& 5 times as bad as the rest of Britain,
Indeed many were barred from it
that year,
For fear they maybe be infected, We will only be a victor nation,
when we remember all our ancestor who died unfairly,
Not just kings who hated
some of our ancestors & hatred & disdain, & uncaringness, Treating
them with utter hatred, or uncaringness, like they were scum,
We should remember
all & then we will be a nation to be proud of,
Not a nation of oppressors,
& bullies, The freer central region, like grey Greenock's estuary port, prospers,
With Gaelic immigration,
Glasgow ups from 12000-202000, from 1708-1831, Becoming
the largest city in Scotland, with a high Gaelic speaking population, Though there
was not really a area where Gaelic was spoken, it was mostly other,
So they
saw all become English speakers,
But some speak Gaelic in their homes, &
then lose it, but some keep it as social clubs, or in intellectual centres, Like
book clubs, & such, But also tight suited Inverness, in the E of the Highlands,
An the corner of the arrow of sea pointing into the place,
Where the Highland's
peninsula & NE Scotland, meet if you look at a map, Saw some small amounts
of immigrants,
Manchester also received migrants & grew from 1700-1800-1844,
6000-96000-350000,
With migrants from around Britain, Or many too the US, or
Canada, In emigration ships, which received these people,
Who were encouraged
to go there, & often struggled when arriving, In the early less developed
days of parts of remoter Canada, And many died when arriving, of struggling to
start new settlements, So it was an unfair change for many hundreds of thousands,
They
evicted both poor & rich tenants,
In very unfair ways, Many cashless can't
survive, in fatal coastal famines, And for instance, some settle low tiny peninsula
village Plockton,
Which was now a line of houses, as one, by the harbours,
And with some islets tiny of it in a bay, that spans 100 metres too the Eastern
route,
The S entrance to this peninsula, overlooks a bay's gentle wood cliffs,
of browns, & greens,
That look like the leaves, & wood is falling off,
Which inside, them, they have Bluebells coloursome below woods, Where allot of
lights gets through,
With Magpies there, of black & white, jutting about
over the rocks, & bushes, just above, Which are on the highest parts in the
middle of the area, Or sitting there, with their long black tail feathers, that
help their movement, When they are flying,
Helping them circle into landing,
or curve,
And helping them shift to the side, And rhubarb, growing brought
from China, well not till much later, Part
