Da Lat, or Dalat is the capital of Lâm o`ng Province in Vietnam. The town is located 1500 m above sea level on the Langbiang Plateau in the southern parts of the Central Highlands (in Vietnamese - Tây Nguyên). According to a myth from the French colonial era, the name derives from the acronym of the Latin phrase 'Dat Aliis Laetitiam Aliis Temperiem' ("Giving Pleasure to Some, Freshness to Others"), which the French colonial government used in their official emblem of à La.t. In reality, the name derives from the language of the local ethnic group La.t and its original meaning is Stream of the Lat, and the acronym above is in fact a backcronym. In Vietnam, à La.t is a popular tourist destination - highly appreciated for its temperate climate, beautiful sights such as waterfalls and lakes and its abundance of flowers and vegetables. It is the location of the Novotel Dalat (formerly Dalat Hotel) and Sofitel Dalat Palace (formerly Dalat Palace built in 1922).

Da Lat's specific sights are pine wood (forming the name: "City of thousands of pine tree") with roads twists and turns and tree marigold (Vietnamese: dã quy`) blossom in the winter. This city has a unique temperate weather in such a tropical country like Vietnam. Mist cover valleys almost the year leads to its name "City of eternal spring". Under trees, near lakes and on valleys, many faithful romantic loves have been started and these loves resulted in some place names such as "Valley of Love" or "Pair of Tomb pine hill". That is why Da Lat is regarded as "City of love" where many Vietnamese couples choose it for their honeymoons.

With its coolness in the whole year, Da Lat is the area that supplies temperate agriculture products for all over Vietnam, for example, cabbage and cauliflower. Its famous flower industry produces two typical flowers which are hydrangea and golden everlasting which represents for endless loves.

Lam Dong. is located in the Central Highlands (Tây Nguyên) region of Vietnam. Its capital is à La.t. Lâm o^`ng borders Khánh Hòa and Ninh Thua^.n to the east, o^`ng Nai to the southwest, Bình Thua^.n to the southeast, a('k La('k to the north, and a('k Nông to the northwest. It is the only Central Highlands province which does not share its western border with Cambodia.

The province has one city (à La.t), one town (Bao Loc), and ten districts:

Bao Lâm, Cát Tiên, a. Huoai, a. Teh, am Rông, Di Linh, on Duong, u'c Trong, Lac Duong, Lâm Hà

Tây Nguyên, translated as Western Highlands and sometimes also called Central Highlands, is one of the regions of Vietnam. It contains the provinces of a('k La('k, a('k Nông, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Lâm ong.

Tây Nguyên is a plateau? bordering the lower part of Laos and northeastern Cambodia. Kon Tum Province shares a border with both Laos and Cambodia but Gia Lai Province and Dak Lak Province only share borders with Laos. Lam Dong Province is landlocked, and thus has no international border with any other nation.

Actually, Tay Nguyen is not situated on a unique plateau, instead it lays on series of contiguous plateaus, namely Kon Tum at the height of 500 m, Kon Plông Plateau, Kon Hà Nu+`ng Plateau, Pleiku with the height of around 800m, Mdrak Plateau of approximately 500 m, ?a('k La('k of around 800m, Mo+ Nông with the height of about 800–1000 m, Lâm Viên Plateau of approximately 1500 m and Di Linh Plateau of about 900–1000 m. All of these plateau are surrounded by the high mountain ranges and mounts (South Anamite Range).

Tây Nguyên can be divided into 3 subregions according to its deviation in topography and climate, namely: North Tay Nguyen (Ba('c Tây Nguyên) (inclusive of Kon Tum and Gia Lai Provinces), Middle Tay Nguyen (Trung Tây Nguyên) (covering provinces of a('k La('k and a('k Nông), South Tay Nguyen (Nam Tây Nguyên) (Lâm o`ng). Trung Tây Nguyên has lower altitude and therefore has a higher temperature from other two subregions. Tay Nguyen has an average altitude of 500–600 m with basalt soil, suitable for planting coffee tree, cacao, pepper, and white mulberry. Cashew and rubber plants are also planted here. Coffee is the most important product of Tay Nguyen. Tay Nguyen contains in it many primitive forests and is protected in its national parks, such as Cat Tien National Park, Yok Don National Park, Kon Ka Kinh National Park.
