Seaton Ross is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 6 miles west of the market town of Market Weighton and 3 miles (4.8 km) north west of the village of Holme-on-Spalding-Moor. It lies to the north of the A1079 road.

The East Riding of Yorkshire is a local government district with unitary authority status, and is a ceremonial county of England. It is named after the historic East Riding of Yorkshire (one of three ridings alongside the North Riding and West Riding), which also constituted a ceremonial and administrative county.

The coastline has retreated noticeably in the last 2,000 years with many former settlements now flooded, particularly Ravenser Odd and Ravenspurn, which was a major port until its destruction in the 14th century.

The district is generally rural, with no towns approaching the size of Hull. There are a few market towns such as Beverley, Driffield, Goole, Market Weighton and Pocklington, and the coastal towns of Bridlington, Hornsea and Withernsea. In the south the district contains areas such as Hessle which are part of the Hull urban area but outside the city boundaries. The East Riding district drains mostly into the Humber. The eponymous River Hull drains the area north of Kingston.

Market Weighton is a small town and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is one of the main market towns in the East Yorkshire Wolds and lies midway between Hull and York, about 20 miles from either one.

Historically it is listed in the Domesday Book as "Wicstun" and was granted its charter to become a market town in 1251. Architecturally the town boasts: a parish church, parts of which are Norman, the Londesborough Arms an 18th century coaching inn, a Wesleyan chapel, a Methodist chapel and a high street still recognisable from the 1800s. Other sights of interest include the Post Office (delightful architecture), the duck pond, and Station Farm. Market Weighton has a bright and colourful history, largely based around William Bradley the Yorkshire Giant. However, it's other notable residents include Peg Fyfe, the local witch, who reputedly skinned a young local resident alive in the 1660s and was later hanged for the crime but swallowed a spoon to save herself only to be "finished off" by two passing knights. In May of each year local residents take to the streets of Market Weighton for the Giant Bradley Day festival in a celebration of the life and times of William Bradley. Industry in the town is largely based around agriculture. The town is known geologically for having given its name to the Market Weighton Axis.

Holme-on-Spalding-Moor (also known as Holme-upon-Spalding-Moor) is a small village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 8 miles north east of Howden and 5 miles south west of Market Weighton. It lies on the A163 road where it joins the A164 road.
