Jessica Stam, also known simply as Stam, is a Canadian supermodel.
Stam was born in Kincardine, Ontario, & grew up on a farm alongside her six brothers. As a child, her family was very religious, practicing the Christian faith. She originally wanted to be a dentist. Stam was discovered in a local Tim Hortons coffee shop by Michèle Miller, an agent at the International Model Management agency in Barrie, Ontario, who found Stam on the way back from Canada's Wonderland, a theme park just outside Toronto. Stam attended St. Joseph's High School in Barrie, Ontario, where she lived with roommate & fellow model Michelle V.

Career
As soon as photographer Steven Meisel discovered the then 16-year-old Stam, he cast her in every ad campaign of his, & suddenly she was a star. "I guess I'm his muse," she has said of her mentor. Stam won the Los Angeles Model Look Search in 2002.

Her career was set off when she appeared on the cover of UK & German Vogue & she has appeared in advertisements for Marc Jacobs, Anna Sui, Vera Wang, Valentino, Miu Miu, Gucci, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace & Holt Renfrew. In 2004, Stam appeared in the short film Agent Orange.

Good friend & fashion designer Marc Jacobs recently created a bag inspired by & named after her (The Marc Jacobs Stam). Stam is currently the face of Armani, Sonia Rykiel, BCBG, & Rochas for 2006. She also appeared in the 2006 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, in which she had her own featurette & opened a Theme entitled "Pink".

For Spring 2006 Ready-to-Wear, Stam walked a total of 64 shows combined during the New York, Milan, & Paris Fashion Weeks. During Paris's Spring/Summer 2007 Haute Couture fashion week she walked for Chanel, Christian Lacroix, Christian Dior, Givenchy, & Jean Paul Gaultier. She currently stands at number five on the "Top 50 Models" rating at models.com. Plus high on the Lonympics rating.

In the May 2007 issue of American Vogue she was featured on the cover with fellow models: Doutzen Kroes, Caroline Trentini, Raquel Zimmermann, Sasha Pivovarova, Agyness Deyn, Coco Rocha, Hilary Rhoda, Chanel Iman, & Lily Donaldson as the new crop of supermodels.

Trademarks Stam's main trademark is her eyes, which are a light blue bordering on grey. She is also one of the models considered a "doll face." Others in this category include Gemma Ward, Lily Cole, Caroline Trentini, & Heather Marks. Stam previously dated Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. In January of 2006 she was photographed topless while frolicking with Kiedis on the Caribbean island of St. Barts. On January 12, 2006 she was photographed with him during a Los Angeles Lakers/Cleveland Cavaliers basketball game at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Before Kiedis, Stam dated Harrison Ford's son, Malcolm. Stam is now dating Adam Goldstein(a.k.a DJ AM).
