Lake Arrowhead is an unincorporated community in San Bernardino County, California, USA. It lies adjacent to the Lake Arrowhead Reservoir.

he Lake Arrowhead Communities are located within the San Bernardino National Forest. For almost 100 years, Lake Arrowhead has been the premier mountain resort in Southern California. Nestled at an altitude of 5108’ in a magnificent forest of pines and cedars is Lake Arrowhead, a 782 acre alpine lake some describe as the jewel of Southern California. Located just 90 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, Lake Arrowhead is within a 2 hour drive of a population of 15 million people. The fresh mountain air and four-season climate is unmatched in Southern California.

Tourism is the primary economic generator for the area contributing several million dollars per year to the county and providing full time and part time jobs for local residents. The area is host to over millions of visitors a year. There are many guestrooms in hotels, motels and bed and breakfasts as well as 500 cabins and condos, which are rented on a short-term basis. The area is also popular for business conferences. Summer is the most popular tourist season.

Outside of Lake Arrowhead Village there are several residential communities, which include: Cedar Glen, Blue Jay, Rimforest, Skyforest, Crest Park, Deer Lodge Park, and Aqua Fria. Seven miles north of Lake Arrowhead is the Pacific Crest Trail, which boasts some of the most scenic vistas in Southern California.

Blue Jay is a town located in unincorporated San Bernardino County in California. It is located in a region of California known as the Inland Empire. The town is a part of the Lake Arrowhead Community. Other towns in this community are Lake Arrowhead and Running Springs. It is within the San Bernardino National Forest. Blue Jay Village itself is located one mile from the southwestern bank of Lake Arrowhead. The town started as the homestead of Art and Norma Wixom. They leased a few vacation cabins and opened a store in 1914. Stoney DeMent leased the land and built a market called The Blue Jay Market in 1934. The store was named for the blue colored birds that live in the area, and this later became the name of the town built up around it. The naming of the town is something of a misnomer: the local variety of jay is actually the Steller's Jay, not the closely related Blue Jay.

The Pacific Crest Trail (also known as the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail) is a long-distance mountain hiking and equestrian trail that runs from the United States border with Mexico to its border with Canada and follows the highest portion of the Sierra Nevada and Cascade Range which parallel the Pacific Ocean by 100 to 150 miles. The Pacific Crest Trail is 2,650 miles long and ranges in elevation from just above sea level at the Oregon-Washington border to 13,153 feet at Forester Pass in the Sierra Nevada.

It was designated a National Scenic Trail in 1968, although it was not officially completed until 1993. The Pacific Crest Trail, the Appalachian Trail, and the Continental Divide Trail form the Triple Crown of long distance hiking in the United States. The PCT was conceived by Clinton C. Clarke in 1932; however it was not given official status until the National Trails System Act of 1968.
