Lake Havasu City is a city in Mohave County, Arizona, United States. It was founded in 1964 on the shores of Lake Havasu.
Lake Havasu City was established in 1964 by Robert P. McCulloch (of McCulloch Chainsaws) as a planned community. McCulloch had purchased 3,500 acres (14 km²) of property on the east side of Lake Havasu along Pittsburgh Point, the peninsula that eventually would be transformed into the island. The city was incorporated in 1978. The present city grew around an old mining town established in the early 20th century.
The lake was formed in 1938 by Parker Dam on the Colorado River. One cannot reach the Grand Canyon from Lake Havasu, however, due to the dams: Davis Dam (creating Lake Mohave) and Hoover Dam (creating Lake Mead) and Parker Dam.
The London Bridge, currently located in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, USA, was originally constructed in London, in 1831. The bridge was the last project of engineer John Rennie and completed by his son, also named John Rennie. By 1962, the bridge was not structurally sound enough to support the increased load created by the level of modern traffic crossing it, and it was sold by the City of London.
The purchaser, Robert McCulloch, was the founder of Lake Havasu and the chairman of McCulloch Oil Corporation. McCulloch was purported to have purchased the bridge to serve as a tourist attraction to his retirement real estate development at Lake Havasu City, which at that time was far off the usual tourist track. The idea was successful, bringing interested tourists and retirement home buyers to the area.
Mohave county
The Colorado River forms most of the county's western boundary, and California, Nevada and Utah all border it. The river also runs east to west through MohaveCounty, dividing it between two of Arizona's geographic regions, the Arizona Strip in the north and the Mojave Desert in the south

The Virgin River Gorge, located between St. George, Utah N37° 6' W113° 35' and Littlefield, Arizona N36° 51' W114° 1', is a long canyon that has been carved out by the Virgin River in northwest Arizona. Interstate 15 runs through the canyon and crosses the Virgin River several times. The Virgin River Gorge section of Interstate 15 is one of the most expensive parts of interstate highway ever constructed. Due to the winding of the interstate, the canyon is also noted for its tricky driving conditions. The climate of the canyon is typical of the Mojave Desert with hot summers and mild winters. Flora and Fauna in the canyon are also typical of the Mojave. The canyon is popular among outdoor recreationalists such as rock climbers, hikers, and campers.
Topock is a small unincorporated community in Mohave County, Arizona, United States. It lies between Bullhead City and Lake Havasu City and southeast of Needles, California, on the California-Arizona border. Topock is known for being a boating town as well as being home to an old Route 66 bridge featured in the film The Grapes of Wrath. It is located on the Colorado River, and there is a marshy area known as Topock Marsh, also a wildlife refuge, between the town and the river.
The Sacramento Valley of northwestern Arizona is a north-south trending valley west and southwest of Kingman in Mohave County. The valley lies just east of the southern section of the Black Mountains. Interstate 40 in Arizona traverses the valley north-south.
