Lucy Boulton is a volleyball player at international level, in indoor and Beach Volleyball. She started to play volleyball when she was walking around her school with a taller freind.. A biology teacher who also was the school Volleyball coach saw them, and asked if they wanted to be in the team, mostly just for asking the taller girl, but the taller girl, did not really like the sport while Lucy did.
She later became a part of the England Senior indoor women's Volleyball squad as a Outside hitter.
But then she decided to conectrate on Beach Volleyball, for Great Britain, in a partnership with Denise Johns. Denise Johns who has played professionally in the US saw Lucy Boulton developed a partnership which aims to get a British place in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
She is also hoping that will be followed by being at the London Olympics of 2012.
She had began this in 2006 when her and Zara Dampney flew to Cyprus for a first time that Britain had a team in the World University Championships for beach volleyball,. She was going to the University of Exeter at the time, and also played more at university too, she played with Team Bath for a while, one of the top Volleyball teams in Britain, who are linked to the university of Bath, which also has a major netball team.
Also in 2006 she finished 2nd with Zara in a event in Edinburgh.
Lucy’s serve was a Phuket events, fastest, & was 6th quickest in overall the whole World series for 2006 reaching 77.5kmh.
2006 saw Lucy partner Denise Johns in some FIVB events, playing 3 with her that year, in 2007 she has played 4 events so far with Denise.
She has played in places like Shanghai, Seoul, Mexico: Acapulco, Warsaw, Porto, Singapore: Sentosa, and Thailand's Phuket
There best finishes include 25th twice, in Thailand, and Portugal, which won her 1000 dollars each time. Wins by the partnership include one over the 6 foot 2 Karin Lundquist a Swedish athelete, and her partner, and some over a Ukrainian parternship. The parternsip also played famous players like Leila Barros and Ana Paula Connelly, and Natalie Cook and Nicole Sanderson.
She has also played
for the City of Wolverhampton Volleyball club.
Her first indoor volleyball cap was against Denmark.
Her fave film is Bridget Jones diary. She said she would like to grow 6 inches and win a gold in 2012, that would make her 6 foot 4.
She also likes the
Gold Coast in Australia.
Her nickname at Wolverhampton was Boultz.
