Her debut in the clubs department of Volleyball, was in season 89-90 with the Ina Assitalia Perugia.
This is what her Volleyball Carrer was.
In season 1986-87 when 13.5 years old, she played for Pall in Carrarese D. Then 1987-88 14.5 years old, for Valsega in Carrara B 1988-89 15.5 Cosaid Carrarese in league A2 1989-90 16.5 for Perugia in league A1 the top Italian League. In 1990-91 17.5 Ina Btb Perugia A1, then she played for teams including for Imet Sirio Perugia, Impresem Agrigento 21,5, Foppapedretti Bergamo, Radio105 Foppapedretti and Marichal Tenerife, where she won trophies such as Titles: 5 with Bergamo in: 95-96, 96-97, 97-98, 01-02; Tenerife 03-04) 5 Goblet nationals (with Perugia in 91-92; with Bergamo in the 95-96, 96-97, 97-98; Tenerife 03-04) 3 Italian Supercoppa (with Bergamo in: 1996, 1997) 3 Goblets Champions (with Bergamo 1997 and 2000; with Tenerife 2004) 1 Goblet Cev (Naples 1999)
Her National debut was in the Netherlands on 27 December 1991, where Italy lost 3-0 to Russia. Her last international match was 19-6-2004 where Italy lost to Brazil. She appeared 228 times for her nation, and scored 439 points.
In the 1998 World Championship she was declared the best setter, and won 50,000 dollars for that.
She was labelled the major sex symbol of Women's Volleyball at times, even with Francesca Piccinini in her team. And was talked about a bit in the 2000 Olympics because of that.
She has been likened to being the Anna Kournikova of Volleyball, and people said she could have been a model or a volleyball player.
She was included in Nike's "Objects of desire" sport advertsing campaign.
She says she does not like make up, she likes straight forward things.
At the time of the 2000 Olympics, she was already somebody who appeared in lingerine adverts all over Italy, and was recieving 170 emails a day, directly to her.
Her fave colour is blue, and her lucky number is 7. Which is the number and colour she played in.
She was decribed with Francesca Piccinini, as one of the great spiking models of Italian Volleyball.
She can spike at 298, and block at 274 cm
In 2003 she gave gave a try at Beach Volleyball, but her and partner Elisa Folco, who is about her age, lost the 3 matches they played including 1 to the quite famous volleyball player and her partner, Ana Paula Rodrigues Connelly.
She was in a tv programme called Island of the Famous in Italian, in 2006, which had lots of famous and people, on famed for their looks and such. To me that sounds a scary idea, a tv programme on a isle that only allows attractive people on it sounds like a irritating eugenics programme, and it stops clever people being allowed on, like that film, some liked, but I just thought it was like Lord of the Flies, that one set in Thailand, with Hollywood movie stars. But thats just my view. It is not a eugenics programme its just people like to watch attractive people. But that is bad in a way, but hey that that.
She always wanted to play volleyball even when young, or was just passionate about it.
The above lists, do not manage to say, that at only 15 she was playing a partly profesional league.
She can speak English, French and Spanish.
She also played for the Italian Under 16 and under 18 teams.
When in the sport, she spent on average 3 hours at the gym in the morning and four in afternoon. Her leadership abilities helped Italy allot. She believes allot in hard work, and discipline.
She enjoys reading modern novels, like those
by Ken Follet and Nicholas Park. And idolizes American-Italian actor Robert de
Niro and is a fan of pop artists Celine Dion and Barry White.
