Ocean City Hotels

The city of Ocean City has many hotels that provide accommodation for people who want to have a vacation or stay in the town for any other cause. The hotels are often in demand during the vacation period in the USA. Many want a luxury or cheap hotel. Many want a large or small hotel. Many want a hotel in a high status area. Some want good views, good entertainment and sports amenities in the hotel. Some want a high class hotel or a cheaper hotel. Some want both.

Ocean City, sometimes known as OC, is an Atlantic Ocean resort town in Worcester County, Maryland, United States. Ocean City is widely known in the Mid Atlantic region of the United States and is a frequent destination for vacationers.

Ocean City is on the barrier spit, which encompasses Ocean City, South Bethany, Delaware, and Fenwick Island, Delaware.

Ocean City now extends just over 9 miles from the southern inlet to the Delaware line. The strip now supports hotels, motels, apartment houses, shopping centers, residential communities, and condominiums. The southern tip houses the famous Ocean City Boardwalk. The boardwalk is the main shopping district and entertainment area of the town. The boardwalk has many tantalizing treats to choose from. Visitors will wait in long lines for Fisher's famous Caramel Popcorn & Thrashers French Fries. Other notable boardwalk businesses are Dollies Salt Water Taffy, the Alantic Stand & Dumser's Dairyland. The Boardwalk has two amusement parks, Trimpers Rides and The Pier, which was recently renamed Jolly Roger at The Pier, after its sister uptown local amusement park. The downtown neighborhood is marked by Victorian style houses and other older buildings, many of which have been razed in recent years to construct more parking lots, hotels and condos.

Ocean City has a long history of fishing, both commercial and recreational. The town bills itself as the "White Marlin Capital of the World." During the summer numerous charter and private boats fish for billfish, tuna, wahoo, and other game fish. In early August, one of the largest fishing tournaments in the world, the White Marlin Open, is held. Prize money for the largest White Marlin, Blue Marlin, and Tuna can range over 1 million dollars.

Ocean City area continues to sprawl westward across the bay and toward Berlin and Ocean Pines.

The Ocean city three mile long boardwalk is at the heart of downtown Ocean City, Maryland. Located at the eastern end of U.S. Route 50, it supports a dazzling array of entertainment options including two amusement parks, Ripley's Believe it or Not, as well as countless arcades, shops, restaurants, hotels, time-shares, and condominiums.

Nearby Wicomico Regional Airport provides air service for Ocean City. Ocean City Municipal Airport, located just 3 miles west of downtown Ocean City also serves as an alternate option for those with private planes.

Worcester County

Worcester County (pronounced as "Wis-ter," "Wuss-ster," or "Wuhr-shter") is the easternmost county located in the USA state of Maryland. The county contains the entire length of the state's Atlantic coast line. It is home to the popular vacation resort area of Ocean City. The terrain is mostly level and coastal. The lowest elevation is sea level along the Atlantic Ocean and the highest elevation is 49 ft in the northwestern part of the county along State Route 12 just south of the Wicomico County line.
