Polo is the name of a flamenco palo or musical form. There is only one known song in this palo, which is extremely similar to another palo called caña, and its guitar accompaniment, like the caña, shares its rhythm and motifs with soleá. Both the caña and polo share the same musical mode. In fact, the polo has usually been considered as a derivation of the caña. To complete the singing of the polo, singers usually sing a stanza in the palo of soleá, generally a the style called soleá apolá.

Prince Polo is a Polish chocolate bar. It is sold in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania and Ukraine under the name Siesta, and is popular in Iceland (as Prins Póló), where for many years it was one of the few chocolate bars available. It has long been Poland's top-selling candy brand, but in recent years the similar Princessa brand (manufactured by Nestlé) has achieved similar popularity.

Donyi-Polo (or Donyi Polo, Donyi-Poloism), literally "Surya-Chandra", is an animist religion, which is local kind of Hinduism followed by many of the tribal groups in Arunachal Pradesh, India (including the Apatani, Adi, Miri Tagin and Nishi tribes). Some anthropologists argue that Donyi-Polo is probably derived from the pre-Buddhist Bön religion of Tibet. Donyi Polo focuses on the worship of the sun and moon, who are considered the eternal watch deities of the supreme gods, Bo and Bomong.

 

Polo is a brand of different flavour sweets, which have a hole in the centre. The peppermint flavoured polo was first manufactured in the UK in 1948. The name ‘Polo’ is reportedly from the word ‘Polar’ and is to symbolize the cool and fresh feeling one gets from sucking a Polo.

Different Polos
Over the years Rowntree and Nestlé have come up with variations of the Original Polo mint. Some of these have been successes, whereas others have flopped. However, none have been as successful as the Original Polo mint.

Spearmint: These Polos have a strong spearmint flavour and aroma. The sweets have turquoise flecks on them.
Fruit: These Polos are fruit flavored and come in several flavours, all in one tube. These Polos are not mints but boiled fruits. Flavours included are strawberry, blackberry, orange, lemon, and lime.
Sugar free: This is the sugar free version of the Original Polo containing sorbitol
Polo Holes: Nestlé experimented with this variation for a while. It was the original Polo flavor in the shape of the hole from the middle of the sweet.
Mini Strong Polo’s: These were tiny Polos (about 1 cm in diameter) with a strong minty flavor. They were packaged in a box shaped like a Polo Mint. They were also available in a not so successful orange flavor.
Smoothies: These came in flavors such as blackcurrant, sunshine fruits and strawberry. They were creamy.
Citrus: Lemon flavoured Polos
Butter Mint Polos
Ice: These flavour Polos came in a shiny blue wrapper, and had a cooler mint taste.

Prior to this Rowntree had already experimented with different polos in 1980s. The boiled fruit ones were always available but they briefly made:

Lemon: similar to the citrus flavour that Nestlé put out around 10 years later but not identical.
Orange: As the lemon, but in an orange packet.

Operation Polo, codename for the 1948 invasion of Hyderabad by India

Operation Polo refers to the successful Indian military operation which resulted in the integration of the State of Hyderabad and Berar into the Union of India on September 12, 1948. This Operation is often popularly referred to as a Police Action. This was the first large-scale military operation carried out by independent India .

The military operation was carried out because the State of Hyderabad under Osman Ali Khan, Asif Jah VII, decided to remain independent after the partition of India. Wary of a rogue Muslim ruled state right in the middle of India, Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Patel decided to annex the state of Hyderabad. Though backed by Qasim Razvi's armed militias, known as Razakars, and a distant moral support of Pakistan, the Hyderabad State Forces were easily defeated by the Armed Forces of India within five days.

San Polo is the smallest of the six sestieri of Venice, covering just 86 acres (35 hectares) along the Grand Canal. It is one of the oldest parts of the city, having been settled before the ninth century, when it and San Marco formed part of the Realtine Islands. The sestiere is named for the Church of San Polo.

The district has been the site of Venice's main market since 1097, and connected to the right bank of the city by a Rialto bridge since the thirteenth century. The park's theme was based on Marco Polo's legendary travels through Europe and the Far East. The brochure provided at the park's entrance described it as such, "Like Marco Polo himself, you will be wonderstruck at the authentic Oriental splendor of your personal voyage of discovery as you journey into the exotic four worlds of the Far East, Turkey, India, China, Japan and beautiful Venice, your port of embarkation." The park featured rides, puppet shows, multimedia shows, and other attractions.
