It lies north of Myrtle Beach State Park on South Carolina Highway 73, known as Ocean Boulevard. It holds a Springmaid Beach Arts & Crafts Festival every year at the Springmaid Beach Resort. In July of 2002 a tornado struck here, destroying the Springmaid Beach Campground and the pier.
