Beau Vallon - Beau Vallon is a bay on the north western
coast of Mahé in the Seychelles. Beau Vallon Beach is a very frequented
and maybe the most popular on the island. It is known as a base for diving and
snorkelling.
Victoria, capital city Victoria (sometimes called Port Victoria)
is the capital city of the Republic of Seychelles and is situated on the north-eastern
side of Mahé island, which the main island of the archipelago. Attractions
in the city include a clocktower modelled on that of Little Ben in London, England,
the Courthouse, the Victoria Botanical Gardens, the Victoria National Museum of
History, the Victoria Natural History Museum and the Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke
Market. The city is also home to the national stadium and a polytechnic institute,
while the inner harbour lies immediately east of the town, around which tuna fishing
and canning form a major local industry.
Seychelles International Airport is located on the island of Mahé, Seychelles near the capital city of Victoria.
Praslin Island Airport is located on Praslin Island in the Seychelles.
Inner Islands
The Inner Islands is the collective term for 42 islands with a total area of 243.7 km², with a vasty majority of the population.
The Granitic Group consists of 40 granite islands, all within a 56 km radius of the main island of Mahé. These islands are rocky, and most have a narrow coastal strip and a central range of hills rising as high as 914 meters. The most important islands of this group are:
Mahé is the largest island, with a size of 142 km². Victoria, the capital, is on Mahé, Praslin Island, Silhouette Island, La Digue, Fregate Island, Curieuse Island, North Island, Aride Island.
Two coralline islands, at 90 km to the north, make up the remainder of the Inner Islands:
Bird Island, Denis Island
Millions of years ago, the archipelago was created by a combination of the separation of India from Africa as well as undersea volcanoes similar to those from which Mauritius and Réunion were created. Subsequently the vast majority of this huge land area became submerged over time.

The Outer Islands comprise 211.3 km² (46% of the Seychelles).
The coral islands are flat with elevated coral reefs at different stages of formation. They have no fresh water and can sustain human life only with difficulty.
The music of Seychelles is diverse. The folk music of the islands incorporates multiple influences in a syncretic fashion, including English contredanse, polka and mazurka, French folk and pop, sega from Mauritius and Réunion, taarab, soukous and other pan-African genres, and Polynesian, Indian and Arcadian music. A complex form of percussion music called contombley is popular, as is Moutya, a fusion of native folk rhythms with Kenyan benga developed by Ton Pa.
