Some Great Jokes

Views for how to improve Scottish football

1. Put big Scottish clubs reserves in the SFL

In Spain the big clubns put reserves sides in Spannish lower leagues, so that their youth players can get expirence against real club sides. The reserve leagues are just training matches an do not develop playing quality. So why not stick the big sides in these leagues. Or introduce a Scottish fourth divsion. Which would have a mixture of reserve sides and non league sides.

2. A ranfurly cup for Scotland: As it is difficult for non old firm sides to win the major trophies,. we could introduce a Scottish version of the ranfurly cup as an extra major trophy. In New Zeland rugby union the ranfurly cup is a challenge trophy. It does not mean any extra games. It uses the same league and cup matches that are alreay played. This is how it could work in Scotland. At the start of each year the trophy could start of in the possession of the the reigning Scottish Champions. Then when that team loses in the league, FA cup, or league cup, or a challenge match with a Scottish side the trophy is given to the winning side. This pattern continues until the end of the football year. And the last team to hold the trophy is declared as the ranfurly cup champions. Thuis would not mean any extras matches. But could raise interest in Scottish football matches. This way we could have a major trophy that does not end up allways in the old firm trophy room. It does not mean any extra mtches it just uses the same matches we have at present. It would increase attendances as teams went for the ranfurly cup. The New Zealand ranfurly cup has differeces with my idea, but it is seen in New Zealand in the same way the English see the FA cup. As you may read from some sport books.
