Tammy Sutton-Brown is a professional basketball
player for the Charlotte Sting in the Women's National Basketball Association
(WNBA). Her primary position is Center.
In highschool Sutton-Brown was
rated Canada's top female basketball prospect by the Toronto Star. She led her
team to 4 regional titles.
Sutton-Brown attended Rutgers University. As a senior
she was nicknamed "Simba" from the Disney movie "The Lion King"
due to her coming of age at Rutgers. She owns a career field goal percentage of
57.6 which ranks 3rd in the Rutgers career records.
Sutton-Brown was selected
18th overall in the second round of the 2001 WNBA draft by the Charlotte Sting.
She finished the 2004 season ranked second in the WNBA in blocks (2.09 bpg). She became the Sting all-time leader in blocks in 2004 with 196 career blocked shots, & as of 2006 only the 10th player to achieve 200 blocks.
In 2002 she was announced
to 2002 WNBA All-Star Game, becoming the first Canadian wnba to join the game.
Sutton-Brown
played for Canada in the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics.
Signed with Fenerbahçe (Turkey) for 2006-2007 season.
She says if she wrote a biography she would call it hear me roar.
And sees Wilma Rudolph the runner, as a hero.
Her favourite book is waiting to exhale, and she would like to be a singer, if she was not a basketball player.
She brilliantly said, she would like to be Wonder Woman if she was a cartoon character, as she would be able to wear the outfit everyday. It would be good if a really tall woman was wonder woman.
Her fave tv show is The Fresh Prince of Belair, and her fave movie The Lion King.
