Barbados is an island in the south eastern corner of the chain of Carribean islands.

It is believed by historians that the first inhabitants were Amerinidian nomads. Wikipedia in June 2006 states, The first wave was of the Saladoid-Barrancoid group, who were farmers, fishermen, and ceramists that arrived by canoe from South America (Venezuela's Orinoco Valley) around 350 CE. The next were Arawak who came in 800AD, and called the isle Ichirouganaim. In the 13thC, Arawak, and possibly all the remianing other tribes arrived, replacing Caribs.

In 1536 Portuguese arrived by the isle, and seem to have called it Barbados, as there was a fig tree, with a eard, so they called it that. Spanish Royal forces seized Caribs, and used them, as slaves on other isles.

It is claimed that British ships who found the isle in the 1620s, saw no people there. They made their first colony at Holetown. In the 1620s, the first black slaves were brought to the island.

The royalist planters increasingly imported slaves.

5000 locals died of fever in 1647, with 10s of slaves executed by Royalist planters in the 1640s, as they feared the principles, of the English Civil War's Levellers, would spread to the slave population, if the Parliament took the isle. But in the end, the comparitevly far left Levellers wishes for a democratic Republic, was overturned, by the centrist element of the Republic under Cromwell, who carried on being quite rightist, like the king of before.

1000s of Irish and Scots were taken in the 1650s to end of the 17thCentury by Cromwell, and the kings in revenmge for them rebelling, or fighting them. Cromwell, as the king's foolishly made Ireland try to invade England, so Irish prisonersm were sent over, and King James, as he caused the Monmouith Rebbellion by his dastradly opprersive rule, and killing of Scottish Puritans, and discrimination versus proto-Methodists.

The slave trade carried into 1804, under Royalist planters, and even boomed after 1660, under the evil king's forces. Large plantations replaced small holdings.

In 1816 there was a slave revolt led By Bussa, one thousand people died, 144 were executed by the royal army, with 123 deported.

Slavery ended from 1834.

But slaver merhcants dominated politics to the 1930s, with the colonial governors,

It was not till the Carribean riots of the 1930s, which were during the depression that the majority African herirtage Barbadons, founded Parties. The Carribean riots were virtually the Carribean rtevolution, in that political parties founded across the Carribean in the 1930s, for demoacartic rule, and more welfare, and unions, and workers rights, 10s of people died in this troubled, event, That sort of thing would not be needed today, most people would say, but in those days there was such oppression it was needed.

Universal suffrage started in 1951,. Barbados was in the WIF in 1958-62, till Jamaica ditched this, as of it's Labour Party opposing it on big isle grounds.

Barbados got autonomy in 1961, and independanmce in 1966, unable to form a union with the Leeward isles.

It has been ran since then, by political parties based in Barbados, and in the 2000s PM Owen Arthur proposed abolishing the monmarchy, and becomeing a republic. ,

Sadly recent news in late 2006 has shown how evil and undemocratic royalists are, and how actually the monarch herself is a rather nasty person, Lets thinmk about it, polls show the majority of Australians, Scottish people, Barbadons, Jamaicans, Even though all these people do not want a constitution which claims that some people are better than them, that opposes equality, and themselves. These horrible monarchs believe there must be a constituion where they are regarded as better than all, Even though they have done nothing what so ever for the good of the nation or the people, other than be statues and be paid loads of cash, that could have gone to foreign aid. Barbados had support for a republic, but the skin crawling bullying creeps in the royal family sent people over to Barbados to say do not do this, What a load of demons. They oppose equality, and freedom, and support them being regarded as better than everybody else, as is proven by their connections with the slave owner saudi royal family. that caused Osama Bin laden. What a horrible bunch of evil scum these royalists are causing terrorism, loving slavery, basing their rule on inheritance from people like Butcher Cumberland, and Edward I, a who massacred men women and children, and they also descend off other horrible scum who comitted evil acts like that.. like James VI who torturted a suspected witch to death, and Charles I, who caused a massive war in his land, purely so he could rule as tyrant, never accepting negotaitionsm, nad casuibng massacres uop and down the land, from Aberdeen, to Bolton, to South West England, And Leicster, Wanting to rule as a tyrant purely so he could take money for his paintings, for himself, from tax from the people. ,And another Edward VII who was a Nazis sympathiser, Why can't they just quit and be worshipped by all the nasty types who like them, in a republic, and hopefully realise how immoral they are after that, and stop being worhsipped, while we can have a republic without these terrible evil people being expecting worship .

This is the final proof of why Barbados should be a republic. Most British people who visit think it is great and even spend a huge amount of their income to go there, But the evil king, Edward VIII, said of it, this horrific statement, remember he was the guy who liked Hitler, "A proper bum island this Barbados....It's a unique sort of scenery, very ugly, & I didn't take much to the coloured population, who are revolting.". Its a that these royalists are scumbags as Barbados is a great place.
