Bath Hotels
Bath Hotels, I tell you, Hotels in the city of Bath, can be a great thing to have, if you want to visit the city and need some accommodation. Some may want a luxury or cheap hotel in the city. Some may want to visit the place for tourism to see the architecture, the landmarks, the baths, the historic areas, the famous structures. Some may want to vist the city and require a hotel because they want to see one of the famous sports teams of the areas or they want to see one of the entertainment venues of the area.
Bath is a city in Somerset in the south west of England. It is situated 99 miles west of London and 13 miles south east of Bristol.
The city was founded, among surrounding hills, in the valley of the River Avon around naturally-occurring hot springs where the Romans built baths and a temple, giving it the name Aquae Sulis. Edgar was crowned king of England at Bath Abbey in 973. Much later, it became popular as a spa resort during the Georgian era, which led to a major expansion that left a heritage of exemplary Georgian architecture crafted from Bath Stone.
Bath
is at the bottom of the Avon Valley, and near the southern edge of the Cotswolds,
a range of limestone hills designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The hills that surround and make up the city have a maximum altitude of 780 feet
on the Lansdown plateau. It has an area of 11 square miles.
The surrounding hills give Bath its steep streets and make its buildings appear to climb the slopes. The flood plain of the River Avon, which runs through the centre of the city, here has an altitude of 56 feet. The river, once an unnavigable series of braided streams broken up by swamps and ponds, has been managed by weirs into a single channel.
The Kennet and Avon Canal is a canal in southern England. The name may refer to either the route of the original Kennet and Avon Canal Company, which linked the River Kennet at Newbury to the River Avon at Bath, or to the entire navigation between the River Thames at Reading and the Floating Harbour at Bristol, including the earlier improved river navigations of the River Kennet between Reading and Newbury and the River Avon between Bath and Bristol.
