Brampton was once known as The Flowertown of Canada, a title it earned due to the city's large greenhouse industry, which included Dale's Flowers, a company that won many international rose awards for nearly half a century. Today, its major economic sectors include Advanced Manufacturing, Retail Administration and Logistics, ICT, Food and Beverage, Life Sciences and Business Services. National headquarters of companies such as Loblaw Companies, HBC/Zellers, Bacardi, Brita and Clorox are located within the city.
The city is home to Canadian Forces Army Reserve unit The Lorne Scots (Peel, Dufferin and Halton Regiment). There are many job ideas, there is the army base, factories, cafes, office jobs, and markets, supermarket jobs, and loads of things. Maybe start a business, like selling ata market, finding truffles, not very likely that one, or tour guide, loads of things,.,aybe the job centre can help you with these things. Major companies in Brampton include Best Buy (and Future Shop), Brafasco, Ford, Rogers Communications, Nortel, Para Paints, Coca Cola Bottling Co., Nestlé, DaimlerChrysler Canada Ltd., Maple Lodge Farms, Hudson's Bay Company (HBC), Loblaw Companies Ltd., Frito Lay Canada, MD Robotics, Parkinson Coach Line and Canadian Tire
An automobile manufacturing facility was opened by American Motors (AMC) in 1960 as the Brampton Assembly Plant. In 1986, AMC developed a new, state-of-the-art operation at another location and called it "Bramalea Assembly". After AMC was acquired by Chrysler in 1987, AMC's Canadian division and its plants in the area (Brampton and Bramalea) were absorbed with the oldest facility closing in 1992. The newest factory was renamed Brampton Assembly and it became one of Brampton's largest employers with over 4,200 workers when running at capacity.
Brampton state agencies may be able to offer help, or libraries, or job centres, or people themselves. There can be loads of job opportunities, and also selling, and loads of things.
Besides private post-secondary facilities, Brampton's only place of higher education is Sheridan College. Also with a campus in Oakville, Sheridan's "Davis Campus" primarily focusing on education for the business world and for trades.
Local high schools include Bramalea, Brampton Centennial, Cardinal Leger, Central Peel, Chinguacousy, Fletcher's Meadow, Harold M. Brathwaite, Heart Lake, Holy Name of Mary Catholic Secondary School,North Park, North Peel, Notre Dame,Sandalwood Height's Secondary School, St. Augustine, St. Edmund Campion, St. Marguerite d'Youville, St. Thomas Aquinas,Turner Fenton (Canada's only campus-based high school) and Mayfield Secondary School (Bramptons first fine arts school). Jobs at the mininum wage, are better than unemployment benfit to most people.; Also driving jobs, and entrepeuer jobs can be good. Or work with somebody else at something, maybe a job club style way of setting up abusiness with somebody. The things is there is a chance, of a job, and the best attitude is never give up, find something to keep going, even a hobby, or just get a job, or business idea, maybe even collecting, but a reasnoble wage is nicest.
