Cottages in France

France is a land of many cottages and holiday homes. They exist in places like Provence, and Brittany and Normany, and everywhere. Some are in style of old medieval buildings, some are genuinly that, Some are reconverted barns, or old peasant homes, maybe used by Resistance fighters, or cadres in the French Revolution opposing a return to feudalism. Some overlook great views, and some are on plateaus in the uplands. Some are in wine growing areas and some are just on the outskirts of towns, by a field full of birds and more. Some maybe used by shoe repairers in the 19th Century or Van Gogh. Some will have been farmhouses in the 1800s, or 1880s and some will be made of rubble, or plenty of wood, at times lots of stone, or brick. There may be some new ones, or ones converted into larger modern homes, or ones that used to be mansions downsized. Some may even be highly moderm, maybe made from glass, and metal, or metal, or underground, or more. Some cottages wil be in highlands and suitbale for skiers or Alpine pasturalists. Some cottages may be for shepherds, or for workers, or retired people. Or holiday makers. Some may have gardens of many flowers, and much insects and such. Some may have fresh food and produce from local markets and fresh honey, and food from abroad too. Some will be for sale, for rent, on time share, being lent to friends or used for parties. Rooves may be slate, wood, or anything, and they occur from Alsace, to the Pyranees, to the Alps, to the Channel, even the Bay of Biscay. Some will be covered by trees, like some whole towns, and overlook more trees.
