Exiting British Nature
A site saying how the island of Britain
does have some interesting nature after all,
The site details, predators,
past predators scary things, and more.
So here we go, the first thing.
Britain has a history of earthquakes,
There
are 10s a century that shake the ground, in Britain, I have been in 2, in Nefyn,
and in The Conwy Valley. The first was the largest recorded onland.
The records
are only good since 1580, a couple of people at least died in London of that of
falling masonry,
That year there was a quake in the Straits of Dover, which
certainly destroyed houses, and killed some people in England, and destroyed houses
in France too. It also sunk some ships aswell, in freak waves.
Another large
quake was in Inverness in 1769, when many houses were destroyed, and again there
were several fatalities, the largest in terms of fatalities in Scotland.
Another
quake was in 1884 in Colchester , known as the Great English Earthquake, with
3-5 deaths. Damaging 1200 buildings.
Some quake deaths are from falling stones,
or building collapses.
Another quake was in 1931, this time off the coast of
Eastern Britain. Though maybe many of these off the coast quakes were not mentioned.
Such as in Dogger Bank, the quake saw houses in Hull make the chimneys collapse,
and made a mini tsunami. It was the greatest of recorded ones at 6.1 on the Richter
scale.
The Nefyn earthquake I was in officially killed nobody but a spire
was affected and a chimney fell down, with 5.4 on the Richter scale, the highest
recorded onland, in 1984, it apparently sounded like tractor going up the road,
rumbling for ages, but I did not wake up. But I heard one in the Conwy Valley
the smaller quake shaked my unstable sash window, for a few minutes. In the 2000s,
It is said that Loch Ness was violently agitated during the Lisbon quake of
the 18thC,
In the seventeenth century there was a tsunami, that pushed into Wales,
The largest in Britain was like a one in Shetland, that occurred
8,000 years ago,
When a tsunami, caused by a land fall of rocks in Norway,
Sent 20-40 ft waves over the Atlantic to there,
Harming the land bridge,
and Dogger Bank that land bridge
With the continent, infact the land bridge
was almost washed away by it. historically those tsunamis occurred a few times.
That one that pushed into Wales, was in the wearly 17thC a huge waves and
water from a Earthquake in the Celtic sea, some feel caused this, and it killed
some people ruined proprty and flooded much of Glamorgan, and Somerset, some thought
of course iot was punishment from God.
In 1782 a British warship was wrecked off Spithead in East England 900 died, Spanish Armada storms killed 4000 Spanish people via storms, off the Armada,
So here is some more fascinating
factuality.
Now here on former dangerous animals in Britain.
Undangerous,
beavers went extinct in the 1100s in Britain.
The auroch a dangerous creature
really as it could knock you down, went extinct in England in 300BC, and in Scotland
by 1000,
The Lynx went extinct in 2700BC in Britain,
The brown bear went
extinct in Britain around 900 or 1000AD some say strangely 500BC but others say
the Romans exported them from Britain for their gladiatorial evil,
Wild boar
went in the 16thC say many, but they have been reintroduced, some famous figures
boated for killing the last in their area, well they would be a bit dangerous
it is said 6500 wolves were in Britain in the past at single times in say
10,000 BC to some, or that Britain could sustain so many, some want to bring 250
back to the Highlands, said to be a ridiculous thought by some, it is said the
last wolf in England and Wales died in 1500 or earlier, and in Wales probably
earlier than England,
The last wolf in Scotland to some was in 1680, or the
last killed, with the last seen in Sutherland in 1691,
Some links, then hey back to this page, a dangerous place to come to the top of,

A royal hunt killed 5 wolves and 360 deer in 1563, a king boooh, was chased by one in 1010 in Scotland, but a family member killed it, in legend
1743 to some is a date of the last wolf kill in Scotland, but some find this unrealistic certainly almost 100% certain they extinct by 1769,
It is said there were reindeer in Britain till 600bc wild horses 7000bc wolverines to 6000bc Irish elk 6000bc mammoths to 10,.000bc grey whale to 1700 saiga antelope to 10,000bc

If no de-imperialism, maybe we would not have seen these re-introduced
poisonous plants and lethal adders, (the only poisonous animal in Britain of which they can kill or just make you rather disabled for life), people fear them in some uplands when walking amid them, though some say there are some truths in myths some shrews could be poisonous, there are also carnivore plants little ones in Britain that feast on very small inects in the water, There are many poisonous things in Britain.
