Things To do in the Channel Islands
There are mabye many things to do in the Channel Islands
The isles, are geographically just off the coast of France, but are politically some of Britain's dependancies.
It consists, of Jersey, Guernsey, Sark, and a number of other isles. The capital of the area is St Helier.
The Channel Islands, is famopus as sunny, In the 1980s, it had campaigns of tourism, saying visit France without having to learn the language, as of it;s trong French influcnces. It has histories of Norman rule, of French attacks by the Anicen regime, and Nazi occupation, where some Channel Islanders, died, and some were sent to death camps.
It has a parliament, and issues it's own British pounds.
Berrgerak was the most famous TV programme to do with it, linking ion the rich tax haven Brits and local big wigs and the local detective played by John Nettles.
There are many things to do in the Channel Islands, cycling, canoeing, running, walking, watching tv, spending money, shopping, drinking inm cafes, tea drinking, eating scones, eating French food, looking at the sea, seeing old defences, of naval walls, remnants of Nazi occupation, where Soviet POWS, died, going boating, visiting France, or Britain seeing old pre historic history like of when Neanderthals were here, and made mammoths run off cliffs, A huge number of things. Also bird watching, anf fishing.
The Channel Islands made allot of money in the Medieval era, from smuggling, French wine.
Some remnants of the old archaic Norman English French survive.
Some witches were killed on the isles during the Stuarts or Tudor's or what were felt to be witches,
There were riots on the isles against Laud's moves against their brand of Puritanism,
There was French Royal attack in the 1780s which had single figure deaths
Some think it is really a unfair subsidy that the Channel Islands get the benefits of British connections, and all that that entails, and that it can then have lower taxes getting rich Brits in, When of course there would be no benefit vice versa, if Britain tried to be a tax haven for the islands, then all that would happen is a few rich people would come, So this is unfair helping lots of rich not pat tax, and subverting a fairer society. Especially as this unfair advantage makes it richer in all ways than Britain.
Britain had made the Channels Isles assembly,
Which had
been occurring since the 16thC,
Elected members from 1856, & made it
a more clearly democratic in the 1940s,
After being conquered by it's enemy,
When
many of it's people were taken to camps in the continent,
When in the early
40s it had even dictatorial under occupiers,
But made it more democratic in
the late 40s,
It had also seen riots in the 19thC, & famines, which maybe
killed as many as this,
But it was getting more democratic in those Cs,
And had universal suffrage, & was very democratic from late 40s, with
British help,
And tax haven status stealing it's money, but OK I suppose,
The Manx had had a parliament for Cs which had become democratic by 1919,

After some changes from
1881-1913,
It was mostly of independents with a slightly strong Lab,
