Giant sloths were a species that lived in the Americas. also known as Megalonychid, or Ground sloths,

They were the largest ever of this species. They were about 2 metres high, and were the size of elephants. But they were pushed to extinction by the end of the Ice Age, around 10,000 years ago, and probabaly by hunting by incoming populations of humans.
