Hermosa Beach is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. Some may want to stay at well known hotels. Some may want to stay at hotels that have access to parking facilities.
The city is located in the South Bay region of the greater Los Angeles area and is one of the three Beach Cities. Hermosa Beach is bordered by the other two, Manhattan Beach to the north and Redondo Beach to the south and east.
The city's flat sandy beach is ideal for sunbathing, beach volleyball, surfing and paddleboarding. The city itself has at one time only been about 15 blocks from east to west and 40 blocks from north to south, with the Pacific Coast Highway running down the middle. Gentle westerly sea breezes take the edge off what can be high summertime temperatures in Los Angeles and elsewhere in the county. The same breezes hasoften helped keep the smog away.
A paved path, called The Strand, runs along Hermosa's beach from Redondo Beach in the south approximately twenty miles north to Santa Monica and the Hermosa Beach pier is at the end of Pier Avenue which is one of the beach community's main and shopping, eating and partying areas. The community is home to lots of beach loving athletes and sun worshippers.
The South Bay bicycle path is a mixed-type bicycle route in Los Angeles County. The trail starts as a separate, paved Class 1 bicycle path going Southbound at Will Rogers State Beach (about Temescal Canyon and the Pacific Coast Highway) and ends in Torrance County Beach. The path is 22 miles long, and the midpoint between the two ends of the path is near the southern end of the Playa del Rey residential area. The South Bay bicycle path is a paved path that provides access to the beach and other unimproved property.
Some may want to stay at well known hotels. Some may want to stay at hotels that have access to parking facilities.
The South Bay is one of the most culturally, economically, and ethnically diverse areas in the USA, with a largely even distribution of population among persons of European, Asian/Pacific Islander, African, and Latino ancestry. However, the racial and economic makeup varies widely across the region. The beach cities and the Palos Verdes Peninsula are very affluent, with mostly white and Asian-American populations. Manhattan Beach and Palos Verdes are also two of the wealthiest communities in the United States with some of the most expensive real estate in the United States. The city of Carson also has a sizable population of wealthy African-Americans. Hawthorne and Gardena are diverse communities with pluralities of blacks and Latinos. Gardena is also home to one of America's oldest Japanese communities. Also, Hermosa Beach is the scene of many film and television recordings.
Port of Los Angeles
The Port of Los Angeles, sprawling across the shorelines of San Pedro and Wilmington, is the busiest in the United States. When combined with the Port of Long Beach, it is the fifth-busiest in the world. Traditionally, most of the populations of Wilmington and San Pedro have worked for the port in some capacity. It is increasingly the primary driver of the Southern California economy: industrial growth in the Inland Empire is almost entirely attributable to increased port traffic since the 1980s. Unfortunately, the massive increase in cargo volume has created significant air pollution (especially of particulate matter resulting from the combustion of low-grade marine diesel fuel) in neighboring communities.
The South Bay is the traditional
home of Southern California's aerospace industry.
