The flag was first adopted as a maritime registry flag of the maritime province of the Canary Islands. It was initially adopted in 1845 by Royal Order and was adopted as the flag of Tenerife by an Order issued on 9 May 1989, with the order appearing in the Boletín Oficial de Canarias on 22 May 1989.
The flag is identical to the Flag of Scotland, except in the shade of blue The Observatorio del Teide (Teide Observatory) is an astronomical observatory on Tenerife operated by the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias. Opened in 1964, it became one of the first major international observatories, attracting telescopes from different countries around the world because of the good astronomical seeing conditions. Later the emphasis for optical telescopes shifted more towards Roque de los Muchachos Observatory on La Palma nearby, as the seeing conditions proved to be even better there. The University of La Laguna is situated in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, on the island of Tenerife. It is the oldest university in the Canary Islands, and has the highest student population of any university in these islands. It has four campuses: Central, Anchieta, Guajara, and Santa Cruz.
Its origins date to the year 1701 when a center for advanced studies was established by the Augustinians in the town of La Laguna. A Papal Bull of 1744 proposed that it be converted into the Ecclesiastical University of San Agustín, but these plans never came to fruition. Adeje is a municipality in the southwestern part of the island of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands, and part of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Adeje is also a growing suburb of Tenerife Sur of South Tenerife and is the westernmost. It is located about 90 km SW of the island's capital, NW of Los Cristianos and Las Américas of Arona and about 10 km NW of Reina Sofia Airport.nra La Guancha is a municipality in the north-northwestern part of the island of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands, and part of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It is located about 20 km SSW of the island's capital, N of Los Cristianos and Las Américas of Arona and about 75 km N of Reina Sofia Airport.
The population is 5,318 (ISTAC, 2003), its density is 233.72/km² and the area is 23.77 km². The elevation is 501 m. La Guancha is linked north of the TF1 superhighway and is linked with a highway linking Icod de los Vinos and the capital and west of the TF2 superhighway. Farmlands are in the valley areas and within the Atlantic, the mountain and the hills are to the south
