Hopton Holiday Village is a place where someone I knew
went. Hopton is a Hamlet in the English county of Derbyshire. It is south west
of Wirksworth and at the northern end of Carsington Water. The village had a long
association with the Gell family who had extensive lead mining interests in the
Wirksworth area and lived at Hopton Hall. (See Image ). Notable members include
Sir John Gell who was a Parliamentarian in the English Civil wars and Sir William
Gell who was a famous archaeologist. The famous Hopton Incline of the Cromford
and High Peak Railway, (now disused and part of the High Peak Trail and new Pennine
Bridleway), is about 1 mile North of the village. But Hopton Holiday Village is
a place near Great Yarmouth, a pal of mine went there and he said it was good.
It is a large holiday park and village aside Great Yarmouth, it has many great
vacation rental placements some with marvellous views of the Oceans. Some are
landcsaped. It is is a family one, and there are also a golf course there. Haven
Holidays is a company that runs many well-known holiday parks around United Kingdom
under the Haven and British Holidays brands, previously two separate companies
until Bourne Leisure (previously owner of British Holidays) acquired Haven via
the The Rank Group for £700 million in 2000. It now almost entirely trades
as Haven. Haven ones in Norfolk include * Caister (near Great Yarmouth) * Seashore
(Great Yarmouth) * Hopton (near Great Yarmouth) * Wild Duck (near Great Yarmouth)
