Norwich, is a city in East Anglia, in Eastern England. It is the regional administrative centre and county city of Norfolk. During the 11th century Norwich became the second largest city in England, after London, and one of the most important places in the kingdom.

Norwich Castle was built in 1067 when William the Conqueror (c.1027 - 1087) ordered its construction in order to have a fortification in the city of Norwich, England (William's only castle in East Anglia). Ninety-eight Saxon homes were demolished to make way for the castle. The original structure was a timber motte and bailey type housing standing on a natural rise in the land augmented by an artificial mound.
The Great Hospital is a medieval hospital that has been serving the people of Norwich, Norfolk, England, since its foundation in 1249. It is situated on a 7 acre (28,000 m²) site in a bend of the River Wensum and to the north-east of Norwich Cathedral. Bishop Walter de Suffield founded St. Giles's Hospital, as the Great Hospital was originally known, in 1249. The hospital has provided accommodation and sustenance for people for almost eight centuries. What makes the hospital notable today is its continuous record of care, the range of existing medieval buildings on the hospital grounds, most of which are still in use, and the extensive archives that record the hospital's long history.
The principal local football team is Norwich City, also known as the Canaries. The city's second club, Norwich United (who are based in Blofield some 5 miles east of the city), whilst AFC Norwich are another side. Gothic F.C. were also based in Norwich.
Norwich was the second city of England (after London) for several centuries before industrialisation, which came late to Norwich due to its isolation.
Norwich International Airport, also known as Norwich Airport, is an airport 2.5 nautical miles north of the city centre of Norwich, Norfolk on the edge of the city's suburbs.
Norwich is a popular destination for a city break; attractions include Norwich Cathedral, the cobbled streets and museums of old Norwich, The Castle, Cow Tower, Colman's Shop, Dragon Hall and The Forum. Norwich is also one of the UK's top ten shopping destinations, with a mix of chain retailers and independent stores as well as one of the largest outdoor markets in England.
Cow Tower is an historic military tower which stands by the River Wensum in Norwich, Norfolk. It was built in the 14th century and was badly damaged in the rebellion led by Robert Kett - whose men were camped on Mousehold Heath on the other side of the river. The tower is currently locked as the building is fragile, but visitors can walk round it.
