 Rent a Villa in Ibiza

Ibiza Hotels are great places to stay. Ibiza is famed for many fun things to do. Ibiza ( Catalan : Eivissa ) is an island located in the Mediterranean Sea about 80 km off the coast of Spain. It is the third largest of the Balearic Islands autonomous community (Spain). With Formentera, it is one of the two Pine Islands. Its largest cities are Ibiza Town (Catalan:Vila d'Eivissa or simply Vila), Santa Eulària des Riu and Sant Antoni de Portmany. Ibiza is a city and municipality located on the southeast coast of the island of Ibiza in the Balearic Islands autonomous community. Although called Ibiza in Spanish, its official Catalan name is Eivissa (as restored in 1986) and its inhabitants call it Vila d'Eivissa or simply Vila. It's divided into two main parts: the old town, called Dalt Vila (literally "Upper town"), located in the little mountain by the sea, and the modern part, called Eixample. On top of Dalt Vila there's the cathedral of Santa Maria d'Eivissa (14th century). There's also the punic necropolis of Puig des Molins.

The city, which has a population of 37,408 (2002), is the capital and most populous settlement of the island and of the Illes Pitiüses group (which includes Ibiza and Formentera).

It is widely known for its extravagant nightlife. Two of the island's most luxurious nightclubs, Pacha and El Divino, are located in Ibiza Town itself whereas Space is located just south of the town, near the airport. Pine Islands or Pityuses (Spanish: Islas Pitiusas; Catalan: Illes Pitiüses, from the Greek: ?????, pitýa, pine tree) is the name given collectively to the Balearic Islands of Ibiza and Formentera, in the Mediterranean Sea.

The islands are situated approximately 100 km southwest of the island of Majorca, and approximately 80 km east of the Spanish mainland (Cabo de la Nao, Alicante, Valencia).

In antiquity they were known as the Pityussa islands, listed in Claudius Ptolemy's Geography, under the names Ophiusis and Ebyssus, which had a town of the same. The islands were used by Cilician pirates as a base. The Roman general Annius drove them out with a large fleet and with them the Roman renegade general Quintus Sertorius, who was seeking refuge there.

The Pine Islands are sometimes grouped together as part of the Balearic Islands, or else considered separate with the Balearics proper being Majorca and Minorca. Politically, they are part of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands.

The island's government is trying to encourage a more cultured and quieter tourism scene, passing rules including the closing of all nightclubs by 6am at the latest, and requiring all new hotels to be 5-star. Sant Josep de sa Talaia (Spanish: San José Obrero) is a village and municipality of the Balearic Islands in western Ibiza. As of 2006, the population of the municipality is 19,224.

The municipality is home to Es Vedrà, a spectacular extinct volcano right offshore. It is claimed that Es Vedrà is the third most magnetic place on Earth.

Platja d'en Bossa, home of many of Ibiza's famous clubs such as Space and DC10 is located here just south of Ibiza Town and near the Ibiza Airport at Platja des Codolar.

The municipality encompasses the following towns and villages:

Sant Antoni de Portmany is a town on the western coast of Ibiza. It was called San Antonio Abad in Spanish until 1986, when its Catalan official name was restored, however, most English-speakers still refer to it as San Antonio. It is the second-largest town and municipality in Ibiza; an island long considered by clubbers to be the clubbing capital of the world. It is situated on Sant Antoni Bay on the west coast of the island, part of the Spanish autonomous community of the Balearic Islands.

For two thousand years, Sant Antoni was a small fishing village but it began to grow in the late 1950s when many hotels and tourist resorts were built as part of a mass tourism initiative which took place across Spain.

By the 1980s, Sant Antoni had acquired the stigma of being the holiday location of choice for British football hooligans, which lead to a decline in tourism in the area. However, it regained its popularity in the mid 1990s when Ibiza regained its reputation - particularly in Britain - as having the best night clubs and DJs in the world.

Young British clubbers make up the vast majority of visitors to the area, mostly attracted by programmes such as the Ibiza Uncovered series on Sky TV as well as the laid-back Ibiza lifestyle. Ibiza is home to some of the biggest nightclubs in the world including Pacha, Privilege, Space, Amnesia and Eden and Es Paradis - The latter two situated in Sant Antoni.
