Karin Lundquist is a towering blonde Beach Volleyballer from Sweden. She has also played at times with her 6 foot 3 inches tall near namesake, Angelica Ljungquist. The 2 ladies are not to be confused with the 5 foot 6 Californian Katie Lindquist and 5 foot 7 Tracy Lindquist, who are sisters, and despite being much shorter are ranked in the top 10, possibly as California has more opportunities to play Beach Volleyball. The Swedish Lundquists are sometimes felt to be sisters, as of their similar names and similar heights and looks, and careers.
Karin started playing volleyball at age 8 when older sisters said it would be a good idea. She started being in the club team at 10, then was voted best libero in Sweden in 1997. She feels she may be the tallest defensive specialist there is.
When in the Swedish league, her team as juniors played alongside seniors and rose to a top divsion when still young.
She won three junior national championships and a Swedish beach volleyball championship.
Karin's namesake Angelica was born in 1974, and went to Hawaii for university just like Karin. Angelica started on the tour in 2002, and played some games in 2003 and 2007, where her best finish was 9th and she has also played alongside Annika Granstrom another 6 foot blonde Swedish lady. Angelica was also AVCA Division I National Players of the Year, in 1996, for Hawaii. Angelica has only been in 20 FIVB events though.
Karin has played on the tour for a long time, such as in 1999 - 2002 she played 7 events, she did not do any in 2003, but then in 2004 5 FIVB or FIVB and C & S events and in one she got a 9th place, to 2006 she played 28 more events, and got 1 2nd, 1 3rd and 1 5th.
Her partners have included Angelica, in 3 events, Mirlinda Jonuzi in 2, Camilla Nilsson in 1, Petra Ekblom in 5, and Sara Uddstahl in 34 events.
She
was playing for Hawaii college for Rainbow Wahine as a Senior Middle, for a while
but had to give up as she tore a ACL, after landing on Kim Willoughby's foot in
a match, a team mate of her's. She then went on the Beach Volleyball tour after
that.
In 2006 Karin Lundquist and Chasity Nobriga beat the tall Maja Gustin
& Tanja Nikolic, in a volleyball competition in Hawaii.
One man on the internet rated her and Maja very good looking blondes.
She went to Hawaii to play for the team after Angelica said it would be a good idea, and for a while it was dream for her, she played there after being at Bozeman, Montana, she got a place in the All-Big Sky 2nd team there. She went to Montana after her ACL injury at Hawaii, then went back to Hawaii again.
She has played for the Swedish national team with Angelica.
She did a biology degree and wanted to become a pediatrician
The six foot Swedish blonde and some, also now has some aim to be in the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
