Katie Feenstra is the daughter of Wayne, who is 7-feet tall, and Pat, who is 6-feet-4,
She is the sister of Meribeth Feenstra, who is 6 foot 7.
She and her sister, came from a very religous background, and Katie herself says that her height is a gift from God. Which they used to do basketball. The sisters also did allot practice to do well at the sport though. For targeting co-ordination, running and strength training. They led Grand Rapids Baptist High School to a 23-1 record. Plus a quarter final in the state tournament. Katie averaged 31 points in her junior year and 30 in her senior year. Her best record ever was 46 points on one game. They both went to Liberty University as of it's Christian atmosphere. Where does Christian ministry work in Schools.
After a injury she came back in her seasons at Liberty to be a top class player. majoring in physical education.
On 3 occasions she was Big South Conference Player of the Year, a Wade Trophy, John R. Wooden and Naismith Award nominee. And also became the Big South Conference all-time shot blocker in 2005. Feenstra was the tallest player in Liberty University and Big South Conference ever
In April 2005 Connecticut Sun chose her in the draft, she then went to San Antonio Silver Stars in exchange for Margo Dydek.
In February 2007 she was traded to Detroit Shock in a swap for Ruth Riley. Detroit felt the move could make them have more flexibility in terms of pay.
She is equal tallest player in the WNBA with Lindsay Taylor
WNBA career high in a game 24 versus Phoenix as a centre
In 2005 and 2006 seasons, she had completed 68 games, and has scored 563 points in WNBA so far.

Katie Feenstra plays for the liberty flames, as tall as the statue of liberty, could just sit down being lazy all day, and still be stronger than the average fit as he could be man, once it was claimed she weighed 306 pounds but that is not true, if so she would be double a not much eating me, somebody once said On games like this THE best part is the celebration & comparisons after the game is over .The coach was interviewed. Katie was interviewed ( by a guy who was at least 6' maybe taller). After his interview he leaned over & whispered something into her ear. She just melted & aaawww isn't that & then they cut away. You know he was totally smittenhat was great, & so was all the hugging. But the the best part was when she would lean over to hug someone & lift them up. I lost count how many times she did this .But thee BEST lift was when they just showed her puttting down a guy. His head came up to her shoulders so he probably was at leat 5'10'. if not 5'11'. I ran that part of tape back in slow motion a couple of times. expression on his face as he was coming down was so ecstatic. From the look on his face this one of the most thrilling events in his life.other thing I noticed as she pulled back away from him, is that her arms. The are big. Her deltoid muscles may not be cut, but they are huge. tricep & biceps too. is a mountain of a young lady. that was said about her by a guy
