MicroCasting a type of podcast

A podcast is a multimedia file that is distributed by subscription (paid or unpaid) over the Internet

MicroCasting Defined #1
Another branch of podcasting has begun to take shape as well, called MicroCasting. Although the term microcasting has been around for a while, it wasn't until the pioneers such as Mental-Escher and their Microcasting Alliance as well as "CrazyAces" started to MicroCast the medium was truly defined. A MicroCast is a specific form of podcast where the content of each piece is wholly separate from the next. It is limited in time and scope, consists of a number of individual creators, two to many people, all contributing equally to the MicroCast.
A larger definition of microcasting captures the rise of niche audio and video content programmers on the Web. Individuals and large media companies began developing "broadband channels" during 2005 once broadband had penetrated enough households in the US and personal video devices like the iPod became commonplace. Microcasting is simply the description of small, focused audio and video programs delivered directly to a specialized audience. As opposed to broadcasting or even cablecasting, a microcast is generally niche programming that users can subscribe to via many delivery and display devices. The content provider can be a small, specialty content creator like VegTV
