The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX)
The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) was established in 1971, primarily as a domestic equities market. As the Island's international financial sector grew so too did the Exchange and in 1992 the company was restructured into a demutalised, for profit entity. It is the worlds leading fully electronic offshore securities market, with a current market capitalization in excess of US$300 billion. The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) is the EXCLUSIVE CUSIP numbering agent for the issuance of CUSIP/ISIN numbers for securities/issues registered and or domiciled in Bermuda. Approximately 400 securities are listed on the BSX, of which almost 300 are offshore funds and alternative investment structures. The exchange specializes in listing and trading of capital market instruments such as stocks, bonds, mutual fund (including hedge fund) and depository receipt programs.
International firms wishing to become listing sponsors must incorporate a subsidiary in Bermuda as an exempted company, meet the Minimum Net Capital requirements of the BSX; and pay the BSX listing sponsor fees.
The BSX has been granted approved stock exchange status under Australias
Foreign Investment Fund taxation rules and effective September 1, 2005 was granted
designated investment exchange status by the United Kingdoms Financial
Services Authority.
The Bermuda Stock Exchange's significant growth over the last several years is due in large part to the company's innovative and flexible approach. In addition to taking a leading role in what has become a world trend towards profitability and demutalisation, the Exchange has sought to create unique products and services for its niche offshore market.
A case in point is the Exchange's "Mezzanine Market" , a unique pre-IPO market listing for start-up, high growth potential companies.
Unlike AIM in the UK or the European Neur Market, the BSX Mezzanine Market offers development stage companies the opportunity to list on a recognized international stock exchange without having to commit to a full IPO.
Trading on the BSX is executed through the Exchange's customized trading system, BEST (Bermuda Electronic Securities Trading), a fully automated system based on a central limit order book which allows Trading Members to trade both equity and fixed income securities on an equal, real-time 'first come, first served' basis.
As a full member of the World Federation of Exchanges, it is committed to meeting and exceeding international securities market standards. The BSX is bound neither by European Union Listings Directive, nor United States Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations.
However, as a full member of the World Federation of Exchanges (formally the FIBV) the BSX has been acknowledged by its peers to meet the highest regulatory and operational standards. Bermuda has earned a reputation as a world-class centre of commerce, featuring a business-friendly environment, a stable and growing economy, and an unmatched collection of talent and intellectual capital in key sectors, including insurance, financial services, and, more recently, electronic commerce. Bermuda's regulatory and legal systems (British Common Law) have evolved "over the years".
Bermuda is a truly offshore financial center, with a sterling reputation. Located
just seven hundred miles off the US eastern seaboard and less than seven hours
by air from London the Island is both geographically and legislatively independent
and neutral, making it a ideal hub for international finance.

Bermuda was discovered by the early 1500s, probably in 1503. It was known by 1511, when Peter Martyr published his Legatio Babylonica, which mentioned Bermuda and the island was also included on Spanish charts of this year. The discovery is attributed to a Spanish explorer, Juan de Bermudez.
Bermuda (fully, The Bermuda Islands, alias The Somers Isles) is an overseas territory of the UK in the Northern Atlantic. Commonly referred to in the singular, it consists of around 138 islands, of total area 58.8 square kilometres (27.7 sq. mi). Compiling a list of these islands is complicated, as many have more than one name as does the entire archipelago, which, in addition to its two official names, has historically been known as La Garza & Virgineola.
The census of 1991 took great care to ensure everyone in Bermuda was counted, but since then numbers have changed with the departure of the all British, US and Canadian service personnel and their families. In late 1995 Bermudas population was about 8,000.
Bermuda is located 564 miles (1,043 km) off the coast of South Carolina and is semi-tropical, with the Gulf Stream flowing to the west of the Island. It is not a tropical Island, but a semi-tropical one and Bermuda has three seasons: Spring, Summer and Winter. The Summer temperatures are assured from late April to mid-October, with the warmest weather in July, August, and September. During the warmest months the thermometer rarely rises above the mid-80s°F. January, February and March are normally the cooler months, but even then there are warm days. Humidity tends to be high throughout the year, averaging about 77%.
In the early 20th century, as modern transport and communication systems developed, Bermuda became a popular destination for wealthy US, Canadian and British tourists.
In germany there is a soccer website where one can exchange views and it has been named a sock exchange.
The island has 3 banks. The Bank of Bermuda Limited:
The Bank of N T Butterfield & Son Limited: and Bermuda Commercial Bank Limited
A trip over Bermuda in a helicopter will persuade you that Bermuda is the most dangerous Island to approach by sea.
Rosa
( Queen of Bermud Rose )
'Exciting' is a large-flowered Hybrid Tea rose which produces medium-sized,
semi-double, dullish red flowers. Most of the year, the shrub is covered with
flowers. Also known as 'Queen of Bermuda' and 'Roter Stern.' In general, roses
are a large group of flowering shrubs, most with showy flowers that are single-petalled
to fully double-petalled. Leaves are typically medium to dark green, glossy
and ovate, with finely toothed edges. Vary in size from 1/2 inch to 6 inches,
five petals to more than 30, and in nearly every color. Often the flowers are
very fragrant. Most varieties grow on long canes that sometimes climb. Unfortunately,
this favorite plant is quite susceptible to a variety of diseases and pests,
many of which can be controlled with good cultural practices.
