A argument that Ulster was undemocratic from the 1920s, Because of right wing elitists. I have known some very good Protestant Ulster people. Even though I have not known all that many people. So they were not all that undemocratic, but this site says why it was the most undemocratic. 1916 Dublin Irish nationalists revolt, In a city that is holding 20% Irelanders in that city, By the late C, & allot in 1900 too, it had what was at least 10% of the southern Irish, in 1917, In poverty as bad any land in W-Europe, But they do not get huge amounts of support at the start, from the population, Even though 20000, were in 1-room families, And it had the worst poverty W-Europe,500die, in the revolt, Plus 50000Irish in WW1, Of a nation that did not have conscription, Unlike Britain, & the rest of European states, As the Irish were known to be less patrioticly British,Brits crack hard, kills activists, even executes some of the rebels, in 10s, In total 17 were executed, maybe more, Infact 1 person was executed in India for joining the revolt, and a few others died there, Which adds to these numbers,This all aggravates their Irish P, Who wins most Irish seats in 1919, Instead of the less militant less rebellious Ps, There are also then Communist strikes, It then goes to see a deal, Where the N became Self-ran in Britain, saw it's Protestant majority Ulster, get home rule,While the S gets independence, The Protestant elite oppress Catholics, It is the Brits poorest, area, is Ireland, & Ulster is the poorest excluding the poorer S, Indeed may have at the time have had a lower LE, than Spain, as it was so much poorer, Especially when remembering that so many of the fit & young, leave the land,So Ulster the poorest land in Britain, Based round Belfast, a few towns, with a small minority in villages & many farms, there, It had got this independence as since the late 19thC, Had seen it's Protestants stirred up by imperialist Libs & Tories, To reject home rule by a Catholic Ireland, So the groundswell, of Catholic Protestant, Rivalry which had always existed, grew, into a nationalism, about Ulster, It was far stronger in the N, Than the rest of Ireland, where there were only under 10% were Protestant, Where some were Unionist, like many landlords, as much as those in the N, But some accepted a more moderate unionism, & nat way, Knowing they could not argue for Ulster, When they were in the S,With some Unionists, aristos, & pals, of monarchy, Threatening to create a army to invade the S, And forming to stop them joining Ireland,Receiving support from the king, In their rare or unique political act, of the C, aswell as the aristos,When the king, the Tories, & the Ulster Unionist Ps, collaborated with the army, To threaten a mutinous rebellions against any attempt to impose Home Rule on Ulster,Without partition, A partition that could easily have been achieved without such a threat to declare war, On Ireland the British government,Indeed they had created an army of tens of thousands, threatening to stop home rule, Indeed some say, stop it for Ireland too, Helped to train by imperial elements of the British army, Who refused to help the Lib regime, if the Ulster Protestants revolted, Getting ammo from Germany, A Germany which later funded Catholic rebels, but not that much, I mean the revolt was planned by the Irish, And was only helped really Britain being at war, Which delayed that till the 1910s, the Home Rule,And so saw Ireland less of an ally to Britain in WW1, And less ability to mobilise Ulster for Britain,As Ulster saw no official conscription unlike Britain, as Ireland, was not in a settlement,Unlike some areas, even Ulster did not see conscription,And this was used by Libs to attack the former P of law & order, As aligned with terrorism,It was this that saw Irish home rulers, loyal in some ways to Britain, Lose votes to radical independence groups & socialists,If this had happened Ireland could have seen a more peaceful partition, With it helping Britain more in WW1 & WW2, And also seen it not weaken Ulster to have the lowest LE in Britain, & such,And Ireland then may have joined Britain in WW2, & WW1, Maybe as independent republic in 1930s,And then seen WW2 end earlier it could only have been better, With Ulster a self ruling are of the N, of Britain or Ireland,That saw Irish nats win in the 1910s, Unionist support in the rest of Ireland drifted to Ulster, or silted away,Even Protestants & Catholics less divided down there,But Irish unionists as of Irish nats getting more radical, Had to accept Ireland would not remain in Britain now,It can be seen that the Ulster Protestants, had always been more disunited than others,Though both groups had taken part on 1790s revolts,The Anglicans & Presbyterians were now more united,And the Protestant lower class were won round now by fear of Catholics, & Irish home rule dominating them,And by riots & the way they lived quite separately in terms of separate schools, & some separate areas, And even more Gaelic by Catholics at some times,In the 1900s a Unionist Council was founded, Which was made up of a Masonic group of Protestants that I talk of later,And the Unionists Ps of Tory to Lib, And other Unionist things, Such as lords, & MPs, & councils, & graduates,The appointed by these cliques members & such & other undemocratic things, Was always between a third & half of the memberships, & some had things where some people had a few votes by being in more than, A single group such as Masonic members, A group that only allowed Protestants, & men, & by being graduates & also MPs, lords, & appointees, by these,There was later some women's groups but they had little power, & were at the start undemocratic, so saw it have quite a Masculine dominated bit,And also a later decades women's Masonic group which was also was weak,There was also an executive council, Which had members in this made of elected members & also lords, & others, So in many senses undemocratically led by Protestant only & mean only & other only groups,Some lower Masonic groups for children had adult members, Who were members of both too, so they had members in the council, & also did their parades & such & network, through local towns, to scare locals, And get loyalty funded by local councils, unlike rivals,And in Catholic led councils, the housing authorities had bias, Towards Protestants & other authorities & the state intervened,Not that there were many Catholic councils & they were not very united Ps, As of Unionist efforts to destroy their unity & other things, And efforts from some Protestant rich to disunite them, & put off Catholics from voting & having the best jobs,Yes there were black lists of Communists in most lands, a bad things,But here discrimination against Catholics limited them from many jobs, And so pushed them below people,Bad for meritocracy & for equality & society & unity, As well as union flags putting people off getting jobs in officialdom,And the way the unionists said the union represents Protestants people, And is against Catholics,So it was just undemocratic & near badness, for the whole era too past 1950s,The parliament of the N,Was in a sense a undemocratic invention,As the thing was created by pressure in a undemocratic way,I mean they had refused Irish home rule for so long,Then got a country they could lead, on their own,In the small window of time, where they could take a large secure majority of the votes,In a certain area they decided to make it their land,It was so bad they even did not include all of Ireland, all of Ulster, Or just their Belfast heartland,It was just large enough to be including all their areas, And large enough to have a bit extra too,In the 1900s, socialist Protestant Unionists, & Catholic alliances had existed, But been beaten by financial pressure, & fears of the Catholics, controlling them,Using discrimination always stronger v Catholics to incite fear by Protestants, Against the poorer minority, And a fear of a Catholic majority Ireland,Using Protestant people's fear of Catholics, & rivalry even past the times they voted together,And using all other things & fake promises,In some lands fake promises just get you elected once, then voted out,Here they used it to secure a firm majority & used the war too, To secure that Protestant vote,And the fact the Masonic order, And the elite had so much power, & bullied the Catholic minority, which was weaker,And using riots in early 1920s, Belfast to get onside working class Protestants, & others,So in a sense was a dictatorship, or a corrupt system, Where free speech was are restricted by fearing Catholics & other things,The most undemocratic element being the feeling they must oppose the Catholics, And keep them down, there,Even evicting many Catholics from there, To guarantee a Protestant majority & get jobs for loyal Protestants, Who would support them, & even evicting some unloyal Protestants, Who in some was emigrated or fled to other areas,Using that Protestant way to black mail them to support them,So using this window of opportunity to create a state of their making & choices then, So this was a are time when unionists were united & could control the areas,If it had been any other time, They would not have had enough votes for peak support, or unity,To be able to do this,And they would not have been able to disunite the Catholics to be a long term minority,So in a rare event they then just happened to be given a area of land which suited them,Which was just small enough to have a Protestant majority,And just large enough to get in some Catholics & be economically viable, Without many old areas of proper Ulster, which would have reduced the majority,Not that democratic as by the late 1920s, The seats were gerrymandered, by the leading P, I mean local council seats were gerrymanderers,Which won many councils for Protestants, against the Catholics, in border areas,And also reduced Catholic majorities in some areas,And saw Protestant majorities increased by these seats ways,So helping Catholics to be disheartened & boycott elections guaranteeing wins,And also this way of oaths disheartening many, And the way how the university seats in parliament were for a Protestant university, So a ways there, so in a sense in late 20s, And other times, also constituencies of parliament were a bit gerrymandered,The power of placements in the oath laden lords, That Catholics could not possibly get into at that rate, as of support for a foreign leader,And British parliament also increased Ulster unionists power in Britain against rivals,In the 1930s the Irish PM sent a P, & won a seat in a Catholic area in Ulster, In which to scare Ulster,Which saw Ulster Protestants votes up, & rise,This in a sense was undemocratic enciting incentment to intervene in a foreign land,But in a sense democratic attracting vote there, to show your p is popular,Which always won as of fear of the Catholic minority Ps, which themselves were divided,Divided into militants, & less militants, connected to the S,Their always over 58%, always won over 60% of the seats, With the rest spread between nats, & unionist lab, & lib,And they had over 7.4% of the seats for extra votes, by university graduates, Who were still massively Protestant, As it was such a Protestant place, With discrimination V Catholics, & the fact Catholics were poorer, Surely when the 1880s, Had seen this area freakily get a Unionist Tory collection, as of national politics,And how pre-1880s problems, Caused the Protestant population as a stronger, group to unite with Tory help,Meant that they were seeing the Protestants united,Then seeing their unity preserved by the leading P, being given these seats,I mean I know this, & every land in a democracy, Will see to some extent the richest 50% for a side, & poorest for others,And also other political things such as nat ways, that disrupt that,But here the Irish dictators created nat problem, helped unite the Protestants, & ruling Protestants & Catholics of Ireland,This helped the typical ways that the stronger groups find it easier to unite,And as they did till 1920, & then got power, using that,They then used this,And were given powers, That meant even in a democracy it would take allot for them to split or lose power, Over the next decades, so in ways it was not a democracy,And the way how Lower Class people then as everywhere, Went to university less to the 1940s,And even to the 1990s, rich class people, were far more likely to go to it than poor class,And even now, as of richer people having more resources, the poorest go to university less,Even the middle income, people are more to it than lower income, And also some say their other reasons, aswell,Which would mean these were pro rich Unionist Ps' seats, So making other Unionist Ps, long-term demoralised by this,And on average Catholics, accordingly less educated, And would want to go to other universities anyway,And still had as in Britain, the business vote,Mostly Protestant, really guaranteeing the massive unionist majority,With all this then, it was not that democratic, The lower house has to be fair & democratic,With the upper house powerless, or quite democratic,Here the essential lower house,Was undemocratic,And a senate chosen by the majority of elected members, in parliament,By the same members, for a decade each, a almost dictator length, With some added, by the mayors of undemocratic franchises,The same P, ruled for decades, Seeing many seats boycotted, by the Irish disheartened by domination,A domination the main P, did everything it could to keep,You could say the state was created for this P, to rule,Mot of that gerrymandering was by changing the parliament, From Proportional representation, to first past the post,Thus push rival Protestant Ps to hardly & seats, Making them the only such P,So a straight Catholic v Protestant fight,By a Protestant P, that still used, The semi official amateur police to force through its parades through Catholic areas, Seeing them beat even willing watchers, at times,And evict Catholics from some areas, beat up rivals at times, I mean far left rivals, And attack Irish nats militant ones, to guarantee Protestant areas, And Protestant propaganda & domination,The late 20s, gerrymandering was aimed at eliminating rival independent unionists,And helping destroy the weak rival leftist unionist P, Which was not that leftist & was castigated as less unionist, & had less money, unable to get Catholic votes,Using Masonic & landlord & thugs power to stop that groups getting strong,And by media pressure, calling them traitors, & a vote that could split unions,And offering Masonic job, to people, & jobs in Westminster, as lords, or MPS, It was a Masonic group as no body of power apart from very few, As not a member & membership of this male only group, With certain age limits, & restrictions on certain sorts of people being allowed in, Saw this as a network of Masonic I scrub your back you scrub mine, Attacks, on people who were not in the main P,Using pride thug unions, & Protestant, The semi official pact to scare Catholics, & far left opposition,If not against very often the main opposition Protestant P, And main independent unionists,Except in some occasions,All above population levels, per Britain, that they could use their patronage over, And the help of the elite in Britain, & it's unionist hopes,So using sectarianism, & power within unions to stop leftists,And using strength to win, so winning,The banning of enemy marches, in the 1920s, & 1930s,And allowing of their's & Masonic lodges' that put allot of pressure via council funding, And religion & media for all to join helped stop rival P's growing,I mean the state funded the religious Masonic group,And the Masonic group then funded the leadership of the P, in a Masonic network, Funded by the state, Getting it's position in business, to fund the P, by their rich network, Keeping them on tops of business,These bans were increased in the 1950s, of banning rival marches,With the Masonic group able to condemned rival Protestants & lefties, Even extreme Unionists as traitors, And hold state funded marches in favour of the regime,With the unions also helping by being Protestant only, And funded by the state, & businesses,And calling rival unions traitors, which never got as much as these unions, Who had deals, with Tory Britain could get,It like most Ps, got state inclined jobs for it's members. But this at a very high rate,And used it in it's networks,And used alliances with Tories to give out state honours to people to get them onside,And used army & police support of cash & resources, & help,For its morale and campaigns,The polarising of politics into nat v unionist was clever, & bright,And used by the Masonic lodge,Every leader of the police, & main P, leadership were in the Masonic group,Even the cabinet was virtually entirely it, & the senate,With no members called suspect by members,But won round by Pride thug gangs violence & promises of jobs, And finds in time of poorness, from state budgets, Indeed the Protestant gangs were not prosecuted unless they were rival Protestant Ps, Not of the state, or such, or Irish Catholics,I knew a nice Protestant from Ulster, but there are also thugs there, they aimed guns at me, So there were also government ways, Of banning certain nats from entering areas where they popular, there,And also then government propaganda stopping nats, were the marches, Of 1000s every year here,With oaths stopping them from taking some seats as they were oaths to Britain,With the Catholic community, Unable to progress as Catholic Church was at that time rightists, So against the left & so stopped any potential unity of Catholics & Protestants, as leftists, And so any real possibility of unity,The speakers liked to cut short nats in parliaments,The Catholics schools were allowed independence,But Protestant schools, & services & housing was funded better,Which won onside many Protestant eras,Even if they remained poorer than most in Britain,And were rightfully angry at lower poor relief, & worse services, than any British land,Lets remember that the ethnic wars of the 1900s,Were partly what united Protestants to vote Unionist P,Which can be blamed partly in the dictatorial activities of the 1900s, Of the p, & it's leaders,So that dictatorial act was what held cause this ingrained nat ethnic rivalry,That was bale to be used by the lead P, to further that in the 1920s, & later,Also the position of the elites,Of Ulster in Britain's army & elites,Gave them power there,That the Irish minority & smaller unionist Ps had no comparison to,It would take allot of it this Protestant unity to split,And even more Catholic unity to appear was even less of a chance,The domination, meant that much Protestant, opposition,Was about wanting a more extreme version of the thing,Even with terrorists leading them, from the thug police,If they were leftist on economics they could be attacked,As nats & leftists, using state propaganda against them,So another thin, & seeing anything they did often stopped, Their parades were not really accepted that often,Most Protestant opposition was either more extreme, so accepted, & bought off by things,Or maybe to be thoroughly attacked by propaganda, & such, & undemocratic opposition to certain groups, Like Catholics, & use of state funds to discriminate V this poorer groups, & more,So in many ways it was undemocratic,And not a democracy,So not that successful,In its ways, here then,I say more later,But it,Was not democratic in many ways,From use of state media for its ways,And use of state for it's polices,Far more than even leftist or patriotic councils,Or even the normal thing of putting your P, or monarchy history in the history books,To of course we do that but not that such, here, then shall,You could say well Scottish leftist councils, maybe for example taught socialist history,And English Conservative ones, taught about their monarchy, & pro it propaganda,And did gerrymandering like English,But not this level,And it was not rampant propaganda, totally for their political P, & establishment,And not for a elite, led by dictatorist orders, & beliefs, of inequality,That were funded by the state, officially & with propaganda, To get the people to their divide, & to hate the others,Indeed in the 1950s, still Protestant leaders were saying they did not want Catholics in the P,It is not like a socialist not wanting many aristos, as I say aristos, are ruling races, And in that way must be feared,Catholics, are just equal people,So there was some pluralism, in for instance Glasgow council, Even if there were at times large Lab majorities,And they did not control education, so only their view was taught,And even if it was, it was never about dominating other Ps,And some for even the blue counties of England, Where only the right ever win, with not even the common Lab thing, Of many independents,As the national government could change,And they did not have power to arrest peopleAnd well yes they did have union members, helping choose the Lab leaders,But the unions allowed anybody to join, men, women, & all,And all unions could join, & all people, except people found to have criminal beliefs, And people anti the P, who could join another P, Were allowed to join Lab, & rise up it's ranks,With no absolutely discriminatory secret Masonic groups inside it, Of more power than any other groups,Lab had no genuinely undemocratic element such as hereditary leaders, And could split, & did not control, While the Tories, & Libs, allowed anybody to join, And were also not infected with Masonic discrimination groups,The establishment police, & business elite, Had very strong links with government, in Ulster,And media, But not in Britain, where they were separate,Even the media had a right even if left wing to criticise the left's leaders, And the right, to criticise right, without it being part of the coalition, Via unfair state buildings, & Masonic activity,And that is why Glasgow was able to say we will mix Protestant, & Catholic communities,Which for them stopped proper religious rivalry, as communities were able too unite,And in truth they allowed all voters to use them, Even if surely there would have been some corruption, And some latent sectarianism,Of course not to corruption to the level of monarchies, but there would have been some,But plural state intervention & lawyers could stop that,You could also say well at times, new council boundaries are made, by all Ps, To make the ruling P win,Which is like the way Ulster was created for Protestant leadership, But no council had the right to decide their own electoral methods, For their own Ps good, unlike Ulster,With not even asking of the public what they want, and not even needing a huge majority,And they could not totally squew the boundaries, as the Ulster Ps, did,For it's own benefits,Using the 1910s political chaos,And unity created by nat ways,Or their own control of education, And choice of where the council/state boundaries ended with neighbours,So a control of so many tiers of society,And of helping it's own P, maybe meant this was not a proper democratic society,So indeed, it was undemocratic,And in some places cliques chose candidates, so it was quite unfree, They were cliques of aristos & landlords,And this was criticized within the P,Yes every P, does that,But here that was even worse, as of all the unfair things within them, anyway,Communist strike leaders were arrested,So there was never able to be a leftist strong opposition, As the right used ways to make only their unions strong,This radical left would have been the only real way of creating a strong union,As the centre left were not seen as strident, and thourough believers,Being stridently beleiving in your beliefs is often better,But sometimes unsure, people are better, ones who do not know if left or right is best,So have better abilities to be open minded and choose a best way,But they can be worse as are easier to fall for other's views, but that can be goodm or bad,And anyway centre left would have been seen as traitors, & unable to seem authentic,If they had created unions, & also seen as traitors too,And just like many non violent members of nat terror groups, Questioned for length of times, illegal in the rest of Britain,Receiving beatings & such,And Communist leaders unions were attacked by thugs & police arrests,With the semi-police, thug gangs able to beat down Catholic rivals, To stop them getting strong,And not get arrested,Unless they threatened the major Protestant Ps, domination, & policies,Like when they did a march the main P, opposed,And also get tarred with the brush as thugs, if they tried to grow themselves,So the main P, was guaranteed as strong for long,Unlike really in the rest of Britain where blacklists against Communists operated, & secret services too,But nothing that blatant, as to bet government supporters, jobs, And to discriminate against rival Protestant Ps, & Catholics,Although all Ps, like to put their supporters as heads of state groups,And also the Unionists gangs & P, used to leaflet Catholics with info, That socialists were not supported by the church so the state funded the P, And was operating divide & rule V Catholics, & taking away Catholic votes from the leftist P, Opposition of the time,Partly accidentally & partly deliberately, Far more extremely than the normal rate of any sensible P,That does not want to lie down in front of their enemies, & be crushed,And using a elite lords, former ruling class, Masonic, & state funded P, Propaganda to attack it on pride sides too,The propaganda of the state,Also congratulated Pride schools, as great, And gave them big parts to play in parades,But did not do this for Catholics,So again uniting Protestants to their cause,And nats remained united by militants, moderate, & disenchanted elements,And even the Tory minority of Catholics for the union, Who were won by the P, Wanting to be a Protestant land for Protestants, But having some Catholics to claim they were not persecutors,Which of course won round some Catholics from the other side,And won some extremism, among Protestants, to help push the land rightwards, In retaliation against Catholics getting jobs, But never enough to really threaten Catholic domination, Which was huge & saw the P, leadership, entirely Protestant, through the to the 30s, And after with big protests for even more anti-Catholic ways, for the bigoted networks, Of a different version of masons, though they were not connected to the real masons,And also the way that media's members had places in the masons, & in the P, So that could be used with tax breaks for them too the 50s to have the media onside, I mean in those days media around the world were more local to the 50s,With a local business group being the main owners,So here the small media, was owned by them being part of the establishment,And were also aswell as unionist media from Britain, More freely available than that from the other lands,So in truth allot of pro-union propaganda, from British cinema reels,Which would not have accepted the Irish identity so much, & would have adored British symbols of the Protestants' establishment, & the radio, the British books, & magazines, & also the newspapers,As newspapers, from Britain would have been either the minority leftist media,That would have supported rights of Catholics, but been quite neutral,But the rightist majority would have been very pro British,And the local media, would have them, Been using the state to keep Protestants, onside & the media, Via masons, & stuff like cash to them, & state honors & state media scoops, from them,And at times attacking rival Protestants, Via the positions these media chiefs were given in cabinets,And in the way they were part of the Masonic groups,With any rival media, of course limited by the state buying these media, And aiding these media,Not revealing bad things about the state,But demonising & calling others were not good,Almost certainly at certain times the semi-official army police,Had eviction policies controlled by the Masonic network,Who wrote fears of Catholics taking over areas,Or of peacefully emigrating in,And wanted policies opposing this,For the Protestant domination,The Catholics chucked out of some areas, to help keep Protestant majorities,So state police action in some ways, like gangland ways,That were allowed by the P, & police,Which also helped secure some bigoted Protestant votes aswell as rich class votes,Helped in this by making Catholics, get stopped in parades, by beatings,And by the way the regime, could crush then Catholic army forces, But only attacked Protestant army ways when they threatened the P,But the police also let them help fix seats for them, Evict any far left Communist socialists in the early 20s, And also long term at times, Protestant socialists of the future although they never did that, They could throw them out of their groups & did,So really to remain in the P, Or powerful in local areas most people, they had to support the establishment,And not support other Ps, so it was a semi-democracy, With the allowance of paramilitary action,Allowance of evictions, against rivals, & extremist Ps, & Masonic links, That made people have to in cases support the P, Socialists, & the Catholic church, were split,And so the Catholic forces disunited,By the Irish state funding some Ps,And by the Church & by socialists & by old Ps,So the Irish nats were split into, Catholic Ps, Socialists, Militant Republicans from 1900s, & Ireland's nats,That was from them being weakened, by Protestant 1910s, Semi-dictatorial creation domination,When people are put in a weak position like that, they often split asunder,And that was as of that,And their people, being beaten, & by arrests, if they turned militant,And at times even to just seem militant,Like in some small parades which would have undone their feeling of being subjugated,In a sense then the Protestants wanted them to feel subjugated,So then the Ulster P, by semi-dictatorial ways, weakened the P,So the Irish left never able to get strong, as of police arrests,And as of Catholic Church opposition, which at times was dictatorial,Sometimes police arresting Communists, & such & certainly hating far left Protestants, Who were spied on as much or more than Britain,With if they went very militant but not pro the establishment them arrested,And the main Irish Brit Lab P, in there divided by slightly less dictatorial ways,With Britain's left told to not support the Irish, And not really out of loyalty,As it was felt this would make them seem unpatriotic,Except in some cases, Like it's human rights group the forerunner of Amnesty, a modern human rights group, To go to part 2 press here
