Nuclear power is dangerous for the UK

Why do we need a nuclear power station?

If we have a nuclear accident then many 100s of km could be destroyed in one go. Why are we one the one hand spending billions trying to stop terrorism and then in next breath spending billions on something the could easily be used by a terrorist or nation wanting to attack us to destroy huge chunks to the UK. What does that have to do with the national interest, or getting rid of dependency on other nations. Well we won't be dependent if we can't live in the UK anymore. And we don't have any plutonium or uranium mines in the UK so how does having nuclear power stations, make us not dependent on any nations. And uranium and plutonium will run out eventually just as coal and oil does. So it is not a long term plan. Many studies have been done on the cast basis of whether wind or nuclear would be more costly. So if it is more costly what is the point.

I think alot of Tories are against nuclear power just because some left wing people are against nuclear power. They think if the left are against it it must be right. Alot of those who are against nuclear power are nationalist right wing Tories It just shows they don't believe in the national interest of the people, only in some cold blooded abstract idea of national interest about other nations affecting the UK. They are not bothered about the people. I bet all the power stations will be built in areas the elite does not care about in rural areas, , which just shows the contempt they have for some regions. The North Welsh have two nuclear power stations funnily enough as far away from England as possible. The funny thing is these regions will be vital in the renewable age. The north of Scotland has a huge proportion of Britain's wind and tidal energy capabilities, due to the pentland firth, So what a disaster it would be for Britain if the government built a nuclear power station near the Pentland firth there was an accident and our main renewable energy area was made uninhabitable for decades. The government have started bringing up the example of Finland to say they have decided to build nuclear power stations so we should. Well Finland does not have the wind or tidal power capabilities that the UK has. And it is a larger nation where they have obviously decided they can afford to lose some land. But the UK is a tiny nation in geographic terms, what areas can we afford to lose. As I said the only real low density populated area of the UK is the north of Scotland and that is the very area we will need in the future for renewable energy. Why do all those dumb anti Scottish types in whitehall not realize we need the renewable energy capabilities of Scotland. They think the North of Scotland is an unimportant and throw away area of the UK it is the most important area for our future. As important as London.

What is the point in putting decades of our future at risk for the sake of a few billion a year of anything. What a stupid gamble to invest in nuclear power. I am not arguing for or against having nuclear weapons that is a separate argument. It is possible to have nuclear power stations and no nuclear weapons and vice versa.

Why should we take the gamble of nuclear power stations. What is the point in taking the risk.

We can invest in wind energy and tidal energy. I know wind energy can stop, but not normally across the whole of Europe and the the globe. Why can't we set up a European grid for Wind energy so if we do have a high pressure zone over the UK then other EU nations can supply us with wind energy.

The pro nuclear types allways bring up global warming as an argument for nuclear power well we already have wind and tidal power. So what if wind turbines have to be planted across the nation It seems extremely petty and deranged to be against wind power because they might cause eye pollution, but accept nuclear power when they could destroy our entire nation. I cannot understand this pedantic snobby attitude against wind turbines. I heard of man man who campaigned against wind turbines on the Hebrides, and he admitted he had never even been there. Some of these anti wind turbine types seem to have x-ray eyes that can see for many 100s of KM, and they pick out a wind turbine that is so far away it appears the size of a needle and act like someone has just stuffed a horrifying picture of warfare in front of them. I know there are problems with wind turbines like there are problems with phone mast equipment, so build them away from populated areas. And for migrating flocks, well surely there is anti bird equipment that can be installed, to any bird from going near the turbines. Sound equipment works on most wild animal or bird flock. I don't see why this would not work in wind turbines. How about build a wire metal net (obviously not dangerous) around the turbine that allows air through, but does not allow any flock through. But can allow other animal , or farming stuff in the area. I don't see how this is beyond technology. .
