Motels in Ocean City are often required by people who need a place to stay while visiting the city. Some may need a place while they drive on the road. Some may need accommodation while on vacation, or studying, or having a work, study or entertainment, or sports visit to the city.
Ocean City, sometimes known as OC, is an Atlantic Ocean resort town in Worcester County, Maryland, United States. Ocean City is widely known in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States and is a frequent destination for vacationers. Ocean City is on the barrier spit, which encompasses Ocean City, South Bethany, Delaware, and Fenwick Island, Delaware.
Some may need a hotel or other accommodation as they travel the roads of the state by car, or other vehicle. Motels are often located by main road. So some may want a motel as it offers easy access to the road system in the area. Some may want a luxury motel or a cheap motel. Some may want one that offers easy views and a good environment.
South Bethany, its neighbor to the north, Bethany Beach, and its neighbor to the south, Fenwick Island are popularly known as "The Quiet Resorts". This is in contradistinction to the wild atmosphere of Dewey Beach and the cosmopolitan bustle of Rehoboth Beach. Assisting South Bethany's reputation as a quiet place is the presence of Delaware Seashore State Park to the north of Bethany Beach, a 6 mile long barrier island providing a substantial buffer from Dewey Beach's noise. Serving as another buffer is a large unincorporated area of private condominiums and multi-million-dollar beach homes between the park and Bethany Beach.
Fenwick Island is a town in Sussex County, Delaware, United States. Fenwick Island, together with the towns of Lewes, Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach, Bethany Beach, and South Bethany, comprises Delaware's beach resort area and is Sussex County's most densely populated and fastest growing area. Fenwick Island and its neighbors to the north, Bethany Beach and South Bethany are popularly known as The Quiet Resorts. This is in contradistinction to the wild atmosphere of Dewey Beach and the cosmopolitan bustle of Rehoboth Beach. Fenwick Island, however, is somewhat less "quiet" than "the Bethanies" because it is immediately across the state line from Ocean City, Maryland, which has a reputation as a lively vacation resort.
Ocean City boardwalk, Maryland
This three-mile long boardwalk is at the heart of downtown Ocean City, Maryland. Located at the eastern end of USA. Route 50, it supports a dazzling array of entertainment options including two amusement parks, Ripley's Believe it or Not, as well as countless arcades, shops, restaurants, hotels, time-shares, and condominiums.
Nearby Wicomico Regional Airport provides air service for Ocean City. Ocean City Municipal Airport, located just 3 miles (4.8 km) west of downtown Ocean City also serves as an alternate option for those with private planes.
Being on a narrow spit, Ocean City has only a single major north-south thoroughfare, Maryland Route 528, known as the Coastal Highway for most of its length, and as Philadelphia Avenue at its southern end. MD 528 continues north into Delaware as Delaware Route 1. East-west streets are numbered, starting at Division Street in the south, and continue until 144th street at the Delaware/Maryland border. Locations in the city are usually given as Oceanside (east of Coastal Highway) or Bayside (west of Coastal Highway).
The Chesapeake Bay Bridge (commonly known as the Bay Bridge) is a major dual-span bridge in the U.S. state of Maryland. Spanning the Chesapeake Bay, it connects the state's rural Eastern Shore region with the urban Western Shore. The original span opened in 1952 and at the time, with a length of 4.3 miles, was the world's longest continuous over-water steel structure. A parallel span was added in 1973 giving rise to the bridge's current dual-span nature. The bridge is officially named the William Preston Lane, Jr. Memorial Bridge after William Preston Lane, Jr. who, as governor of Maryland, initiated its construction. The bridge is part of U.S. Routes 50 and 301, and serves as a vital link in both routes. As part of U.S. Route 50, it connects the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area with tourist destinations such as Ocean City, Maryland, Delaware's ocean resorts, Assateague Island, and Chincoteague, Virginia.
