The oldest Republics, the oldest essentially continous Republics.

1 The Oldest is San Marino.301 AD

2 Switzerland 1291

3 United States of America 1776

4 Paraguay 1811

5 Argentina 1816

6 Chile 1817

7 Colombia 1819

8 Peru 1821

9 Venezuela 1823

10 Guatemala 1823 In the sense of it being the inheritor of the Central American Federation

Although France, Britain, and Haiti, were Republics, before most of these lands, they regretebly had histories of monarchial rule after then. Some may say Andorra is really a republic, as it has no king, if so, it is in second place, but some claim that the French President and a Bishop of Northern Spain, are officially it's "princes", which is totally out of line with any real principle of the hereditary principle, and all that self proclaimed mini master race royalist superioty rubbish, that royalists believe in. The Vatican insanely is said to be a monarchy but is not in any real sense, it is a club which chooses it's own leader from a large bunch of candidates which in nowadays have no hereditary power over them. If so it would possiblt be first one the list, as the first Pope was appointed well before even San Marino was created. I say this on September 20th 2006, The Commonwealth has no power and is not a state style body like the European Union is. It is more a powerless organisation. The UN has power and is a semi state body, which most humans like. In a way Japan is a republic, it is officially called the State of Japan, and the monarchy has no power. I have decided that in 26th February 2007.

The newest Republics, are Based on what a republic

1 Nepal 28th May 2008, and the first new territory for a Republic in over a decade, as Samoa, was set to be a republic via a constitutional agreement decades ago

2 Kosovo 17th February 2008, though not recognised by Serbia, so maybe there are other lands that can be on the list below, that are considered sovereign republics by many lands, but of nations like Kosovo, not accepted by all lands, like Abkhazia, and such, Kosovo is accepted by more, so is more sovereign.

3 Samoa 14th May 2007,

4 The United Nations (I realised this on 1st October 2006 - Including Antartica, which is a land even places that claim it, say is not recognised as a territoty by anybody as the UN says so, so it is UN territory until the UN decides otherwise, so part of it's orbit, so could be put 1st, my November 2006 realisation, ludicrous as it sounds, the Republic of Antartica, well it is, so it would be 1st maybe. and while we are at it, in November lets automaticly claim all the planets and asteroids and everywhere else is a republic, even if it sounds crazy. so thats it, republics win. so the Republic of the Moon, the Republic of Jupiter, the Republic of Venus, and Republic of Mars. etc. etc. I have gone too far this time. But as nobody lives on them, it's pointless to have said so, but all the planets and meteors are republics as they have no king, I say, that is that. and republic of Andromeda, in a way, if there are no aliens there. even then we can say it is. plus teh republic of the )

4 The European Union (I realised this on 30th September 2006) http://www.lonympics.co.uk/thecrimsonbookofroyalty7.htm

5 Serbia

6 Montenegro

7 Timor - Leste

8 Slovakia

9 Bosnia

10 Macedonia

11 Uzbekistan

12 Kyrgyzstan

13 Moldova

In a sense Japan is a republic, as it is called a state not a empire, anymore, and the emperor is just a symbol of unity in the constitution, I mean a symbol is nothing, so it almost is, I say that 20 June 2007, realised it last year though, actually I said it above I see, Andorra is really a republic as none of it's "princes" are royal, they are the elected preisdent of France, and a Spanish bishop, so it is a princely Republic, that does not have a head of state. I say this 22nd June 2007. Nepal is a state and has been since the start of it's interm constitution in 2007, so is in a sense a republic, and is that. So like how France became a republic in the 1870s by accident. I realised this on 16th of December 2007.
