The City of Panama City Beach (aka Panama City Beach, or PCB) is a city in the Florida Panhandle on the Gulf of Mexico in Bay County, Florida, United States. The city is often referred to under the umbrella term of "Panama City," despite being a distinct municipality from the older and larger inland Panama City to the east, making Panama City and Panama City Beach two separate cities. Panama City Beach's slogan has been "The World's Most Beautiful Beaches" due to the unique sugar-white sandy beaches of Northwest Florida.
For quite some time Panama City Beach has been a popular vacation destination, especially among people in the Southern United States. The city is also a very popular spring break destination, sometimes being referred to as "The Spring Break Capital of the World," due to college and high school students who arrive during the months of March and April.
Well-known locations in the city were places such as "The Hang-Out" at the Long Beach Resort motel and the now closed Miracle Strip Amusement Park. There has recently been a construction boom and the cityscape is now characterized by high-rise hotels and condominiums.
The Florida Panhandle is the region of the state of Florida which includes the westernmost 16 counties in the state. It is a narrow strip lying between Alabama on the north and the west, Georgia also on the north, and the Gulf of Mexico to the south. Its eastern boundary is arbitrarily-defined in this article along some chosen county lines, and it includes Tallahassee.
The Apalachicola River also the largest river of the Panhandle. It is formed by the junction of several rivers, including the Chattahoochee and the Flint, where Alabama, Georgia, and Florida meet. From there, it flows due south to the town of Apalachicola.
The largest city of the Panhandle is Pensacola an important port city. Major military bases include the Naval Air Station at Pensacola (the home of Naval Aviation in the United States), Eglin Air Force Base, near Ft. Walton Beach, and Tyndall Air Force Base, near Panama City.

many of which play host to college students during spring break, in the Panhandle
are sometimes known by the informal moniker – the Redneck Riviera. The quartz
sand on the beaches of the Panhandle is so white that some traders reportedly
sold it as sugar in World War II. Florida State Road 20 stretches from Niceville,
FL to Tallahassee, FL, covering the majority of the Panhandle, while U.S. Road
98 runs along the coast, stretching from Pensacola to St. Marks.
