Ranfurly cup for football and rugby in Scotland and rest of the UK.
Scotland should have ranfurly cup in football.
In New Zealand they have a trophy called the ranfurly cup which is a challenge match tournament. All cup ane league matches are counted. What happens is whenever a team loses they must hand the ranfurly cup to the winning team. So if this were to happen in the scottish league if for instance Celtic started off the year with the trophy, then once they lost to Hibs in the league, the trophy would got to hibs, then once say Hibs lose to Dunfermline in the league cup the trophy goes to dunfermiline, and so on. The adavantae with this is that. This is not the like Scottish cup as a team can win the trophy even when they have lost, and it not like the league as the bottom side in the league can win the trophy. I think this trophy is needed as Celtic and Rangers normally win every trophy even this year they will win the league and league cup. This would allow an extra trophy to be held and for extra money to be generated, without adding to the fixture list. This way instead of every year the old firm winning every trophy there would be a trophy avaliablke every year for the main sides.
There could also be a ranfurly cup in England. And in rugby and football in Scotland.
I cannot understand why a ranfurly cup has not developed in British rugby. New Zealand is the most glamorous nation in rugby. Surely we should have looked at their strucutre and taken one of the ideas they have for a trophy. In New Zealand the ranfurly cup has tha glamour that the FA cup has in England. The trophy could end up being won by non league sides. You could have celtic ranfurly cup and one for all of the Celtic nations.
There could also be a European ranfurly cup in football that could be determined by who wins in European matches, that could go to each nation determined by deomstic leagyues and cups. This could be a major trophy ans it would be massive achievement to hold the European ranfurly cup in a small nation.
Imagine what it could do attendances. You could get a third divsion match getting the crowd of a premier match. More sponsors would arrive.
Sides could get paid money every time they win the trophy. It could add spice to matches at the end of the year when sides have notging to play for, due to avoiding relgation and promotion.
