The National Restaurant Association is a restaurant industry business association in the United States with 60,000 member companies, representing a total of more than 300,000 restaurants. It also operates the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. The association was founded in 1919. The Kiev Restaurant (also known as the Kiev Diner or simply the Kiev) was a Ukrainian restaurant located in the East Village section of New York City. His film roles included a cameo appearance as himself in the Harold Lloyd film Speedy (1928). His first film appearance occurred in 1920, in the silent movie Headin' Home. He made numerous other film appearances in the silent era, usually either playing himself or playing a ballplayer similar to himself. Ruth's voice was said by some biographers to be similar to that of film star Clark Gable, although that was obviously not evident in the silent film era. Babe Ruth had an appropriate role as himself in Pride of the Yankees, the story of his ill-fated teammate Lou Gehrig. Ruth had three scenes in the film, including one in which he appeared with a straw hat. He said, "If I see anyone touch it, I'll knock his teeth in!" The teammates convinced young Gehrig (Gary Cooper) to chew up the hat; he got away with it. In the second scene, the players go to a restaurant, where Babe sees a side of beef cooking and jokes, "Well, I'll have one of those..." and, the dramatic scene near the end, where Gehrig makes his speech at Yankee Stadium ending with "I consider myself the luckiest man.. New Rochelle (French: Nouvelle-Rochelle Nouvelle-Rochelle.ogg /la nuv?l ?o??l/ (help·info)) is a city in Westchester County, New York, United States, in the southeastern portion of the state. By the end of the century, the City had begun a massive revitalization of its 'downtown'. In 1999, part of downtown New Rochelle near the Metro North train station was rebuilt with a $190 million entertainment complex, nicknamed New Roc City, which features a 19-screen movie theater, Westchester's first IMAX theater, an indoor ice-hockey arena, mini-golf, go karts, an arcade, a health club, restaurants, a hotel, loft-apartments and a mega supermarket. The complex was built on the former Macy's and Mall which had opened in 1968. Bickford's Restaurants and Cafeterias were mainstays in the New York City area from the 1920s through the 1960s. Samuel Longley Bickford (1885–1959) began his restaurant career in 1902, and he established his quick-lunch Bickford's restaurant chain in 1921. The Bickford's "lunchrooms," as they were known, offered modestly priced fare open for extended hours.

Tom's Restaurant is a diner located at 2880 Broadway on the corner of that avenue and 112th Street in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of the borough of Manhattan in New York City, New York, United States. Frequented by students and faculty of nearby Columbia University, it has been owned and operated by the Greek-American Minasizoulis family since the 1950s. Tom's Restaurant was in Suzanne Vega's 1987 song "Tom's Diner". Later its exterior was used as a stand-in for the fictional Monk's Cafe in the popular television sitcom Seinfeld where comedian Jerry Seinfeld's eponymous character and his friends regularly gathered to eat. The interior, however, looked very little like the fictional "Monk's" as indoor scenes were filmed on a set in California resemblng the Broadway diner between 101st and 102nd street.

Early Seinfeld episodes showed the entire neon sign; later, allegedly to avoid royalties, the "Tom's" portion was cropped out, showing only the "RESTAURANT" wraparound. Even though the interior and exterior have undergone minor remodeling since the show Tom's is featured in the Seinfeld New York Tour conducted by Kenny Kramer and the trademark "Tom's Restaurant" marquee still exists above the exterior windows. Adam and Joe are a bit like Seinfeld, in the way they talk about Minutae of life,

Monk's Café is a fictional coffee shop from the NBC sitcom Seinfeld. The exterior of Tom's Restaurant on the corner of West 112th Street and Broadway, near Columbia University, is often shown on the show as the exterior of Monk's, though the interiors were shot on a sound stage. The coffee shop is almost always shot so that "Tom's" in the sign on the Broadway side is not visible. The windows in the interior set do not match those of the exterior location. The owner of the fictional café is Larry the Cook, played by Lawrence Mandley. He first appears in "The Outing" during season 4. In the season 4 finale, "The Pilot", Elaine is incensed that Monk's "new management" is hiring nothing but big breasted waitresses. The new owner is identified as Mr. Visaki (played by Al Ruscio) and the well-endowed employees turn out to be his daughters. However, in the season 5 episode, "The Wife", Larry has returned as the owner/manager and appears in that role throughout the remainder of the show's run. The cashier's name is Ruthie Cohen, but in one episode, "The Pie", there is a different woman working there with Ruthie, the long-fingernailed Olive. The restaurant consists of a number of booths, tables as well as the counter at which the four main characters become frustrated at having to sit in one episode. Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer will normally sit in the second booth from the entrance, and throughout the show's run, the chance to sit in the first booth — and thus be included in a Seinfeld scene — would be auctioned off for charity. A competing coffee shop is Reggie's, which Jerry refers to as "the bizarro coffee shop." According to George, it has practically the same menu but is disliked by Jerry and Elaine for its failure to serve an "egg white omelette" or the famed "big salad." Employees * Larry the Cook, the owner/manager/cook; when seen, he usually has a complaint about one of the main characters.
* Ruthie Cohen, the cashier at Monk's; she is seen behind the register in most scenes set in Monk's. In "The Gum" she is seen on a horse, and aggravates George in saying, "Your car's on fire." She only has a few lines in the series.
* Kelly, a waitress who openly flirts with George in "The Soup". She is turned off by his mentioning an affinity for the word manure. She is only waitressing to get money to travel to Europe and quits at the episode's end because her hand-made hairclips have started selling.
* Paco, a line cook at Monk's. He's alluded in "The Strike" when George attributes a rubberband in his soup to Paco's cooking.
* The Blonde Waitress, who in one episode George is certain is giving him "the finger" by pointing to the menu and scratching her face while talking with him. The actress is Lauren Bowles, half-sister (same mother) of Julia Louis-Dreyfus; she also starred as Julia's on-screen sister in Watching Ellie.
* Olive, a cashier who Kramer dated in "The Pie".
* Babu Bhatt, who worked as a busboy after Jerry helped get him hired in "The Visa".
