Empire is wrong, we can all admit that, it is evil, and Scotland can be grateful it never had a empire to make us feel guilty like the Germ,ans and British do, if you don't beleive they do, why are rthey always saying how they are fed up of being ashamed of their nation. Nova Scotia. - In the 1620s King James VI, gave monopoly rites for some Scotsmen, to take Nova Scotia. This colony failed under onslaught of French fleets that feared it is a rivbal to their colonies, like in Quebec. So it saw it's people moved by the French, and they had to leacve, not many I don't know iof their were even 100s.
Darien Isthumus, - Thousands of Scotsmen, arrived here from 1695, in this corner of Panama, Colombia, as a effort to take New World trade, and set up a colony,
It failed seeing 2000 settlers die, the British king, king of both lands, refused to allow the English to trade with it, fearing Spanish opposistion. Spanish troops defeated the colony in an invasion.

Scottish people emigrated all over the world, so metimes forced like some borderers, to Ulster in the 17thC, by their own king.
It used to own Berwick, till the 14thC, and that city was Scotland;'s largest but it lost it. after by the largest massacre in British history, by the English king.

And for a while owned a bit of Northumberland, and Westmoorland, after the Battle of Standard, and way before that, but lost it. apart from a loan of it, during a English Civil war, in the 13THC.
