Launceston Hotels are places to stay when in this place. Launceston ( occasionally Lanson ) (Cornish: Lannstefan; usually without the 't' by the Cornish, but with by non-Cornish people) is a town, an ancient borough, and a civil parish in the north of Cornwall, United Kingdom. The spelling form 'Lanson', phonetically based on the traditional pronunciation, is almost obsolete (some old milestones and signposts have it). The town has ten pubs: The Bakers Arms; The Bell Inn; The Eagle House Hotel; Harvey's (contains a restaurant); The Launceston Arms; The Newmarket Inn; The Railway Inn; The Westgate Inn; The White Hart; The White Horse. There is also a club called Rumours (formerly called Oasis) on the Pennygillam Industrial Estate. It opens on Friday and Saturday nights and is known locally as The Shed. Launceston has a large number of restaurants, cafes and take aways. The poet Charles Causley was a native and long-standing resident of the town. He was at one time contender for Poet Laureate and died in 2003, aged 86. Launceston is one of the most important towns in Daphne du Maurier's novel 'Jamaica Inn' Launceston annually hosted the "Castle Rock" music festival in July, which took place on the lower grounds of the castle which overlooks the town (within the outer walls). As well as a vibrant mix of local bands, the 2006 festival was headlined by Capdown which massively improved the event's profile. In the 1640s battles here saw Royalists do horrible things to parliamentarian soldiers, causing essentially a massacre on the sacle of thousands, not just here but obn fleeing and marches etc etc. They sure would have wante dto use hotels here the parliamentarians, and Royalists say unbiased me.

Hotels in Bude are places to stay when wanting a hotel in Cornwall. Bude (Cornish: Bud) is a small seaside resort town in North Cornwall, England, United Kingdom, at the mouth of the River Neet. Bude is twinned with Ergué-Gabéric, France. It is suggested that the modern name is a shortened form of Bude Haven and that this in turn was a corruption of the name Bede Haven meaning "Harbour of the holy men" suggesting Bude might have been a landing place for early Christians. Its earlier importance was as a harbour, and then a source of sea sand useful for improving the moorland soil. The Victorians favoured it as a watering place, and it was a popular seaside destination in the twentieth century. There are a number of good beaches in the Bude area, many of which offer good surfing conditions. Bude was the founder club in British Surf Life Saving. * Summerleaze and Crooklets beaches are both within the town; * Widemouth Bay is a few miles south of the town and offers a long, wide sandy beach; * Sandymouth Beach is owned by the National Trust, and has spectacular cliffs and rock formations with shingle below the cliffs and a large expanse of sand at low tide. * Northcott Mouth Beach is situated north of Bude In the latter part of Queen Victoria's reign, the middle classes were discovering the attractions of sea bathing, and the romantic movement encouraged an appreciation of wild scenery and the Arthurian Legend. The London and South Western Railway was anxious to develop holiday making in North Cornwall and extended a railway branch line to Holsworthy, opened in 1879. There was a horse-drawn coach connection to Bude. The line was extended to Bude itself in 1898. These developments encouraged the holiday trade, but Bude never rivalled Newquay and the south Cornwall and Devon resorts. Hotels aplenty.
