In the election that preceeded the US election. Lincoln won 36%, he won 1.8Million votes in the North, and 26000 in the South. Farmers, and small towns, were what won him the election.
The lead next candidate won only 29%.
The first death in the war, was comitted, when Confederate forces fired on Fort Sumter in North Carolina, which they felt was a occupying force by the Union in their new independant country. The first death was caused by a Union soldier, firing a cannon, that showed surrender, and blew himself up.
There were 11 slaving states supporting the South.
With at one point 23 supporting the North, of which not all were free. West Virginia joined them.
1000 died in New York's rioting against the draft.
100s died in the South of slave revolts, and other revolts, and lynchings, in the US civil war.
Lincoln was re-elected in 1864 with 55%.
Cajuns were forced at gunpoint at times to fight for the South,
14000 Union troops died in the South's prison,s some excuse this, as that the South had very little food, but they were not in a famine, so it is inexcusable.
In 1865 slavery was banned in Union territory.
200,000 Blacks joined the Union army
100,000 Irish immigrants served in the Union army.
3.5Million slaves were freed, during and after the civil war.
617,000 soldiers died,
50,000 diseased civilians died in the war.
Statisticts vary for how many of the soldiers, were black, wherether 38,000, or 60,000, even 80,000,
1000s of blacks, and whites and Native Americans, were also freed from forms, of indenture by Lincoln's war.
10s of thousands, or more, I do not know the exact figure, of blacks, stayed in sharecropping system, a improvemnt on slavery, but without a real revolution, of course some would have remained near slave conditions, when white racists remained having some power.

It is said White supremicist terrorosts killed 5000 blacks, and whites in killings to 1870, often in lynchings.
2000-10,000 Blacks, and Italians were lynched in the South from 1870s-1890s,
There were 970,000 casualties.
Union population 22 million, in 1860, South 9 million in 1861, including Black people,
2,778,304 elisted for the Union, including 3350 Native Americans,
The largest Battle of the war in terms of deaths, was the Battle Of Gettysburg in which 82000 Union soldiers, faced 75000 Confederate, casulaties were 3155 for the union, deaths, and 3500 Southern forces, The Union had 14,529 wounded, 5,365 captured/missing, While the South had 18,000 wounded, 6,500 captured/missing,

In the Revolutionary war of 1775-83 Some say, 37,324 battle dead, for all sides, plus 18,500 US dead of disease, so 55,824. Some say 100,000 US troops died.
