Yeti - the closest things to the Yeti are gorillas in Central Africa, giant orangutan of 100,000 years ago in Southern China, Langur Monkeys which are in the Himalayas today, and the bears of the Himalayas, which include the Brown bear, Himalayan bear and the Himalayan Red bear.

Loch Ness Monster - The closest creatures to Nessie sightings are certain species of dinosaurs called a plesiosaur, a long necked aquatic reptile that became extinct during the Cretaceous-Tertiary extinction event. In defence of this theory, supporters cite survival of a fish called the coelacanth, which was thought to be extinct but was later found. Some say it may be a sturgeon a type of fish found in the oceans and parts of Russia and the USA for example, a giant fresh water fish that can get longer than people. The closest creature to the Nessie that has prooven to exist today could be the Congor eel that can get 3 metres long. Added to this blue whales, and sturgeons and white sharks and sturgeon and many more kinds of whale can get very big. There are also the giant squid, or those Monitor lizards that can get 30 feet long to some sightings though they could be said to be unproven.

Bigfoot, - Very much the same as the Yeti, some have said these hominids could be a Neanderthal but Neanderthals would look more like people than gorillas. The closest thing to Bigfoot in the area are the large bears the Brown Bear and the Kodiak Bear. The Kodiak bear can get to upto 10 feet tall.

Aliens - they could be being mistaken for unusual lightening helicopters and jets flying in unusual ways.

Dogs come in so many unusual shapes and sizes now, that people could just decide that it looks like the El Chupacabra, as they have been conditioned by loads of media on it to think a creature doing strange things is the strange new species.

Big Cats in Britain - They could be the creatures people say they are, or of course just tint cats. One time we were driving around in a Sunday drive, and we saw a black kitten crossing the road up in some hills, we said I wonder if that is a baby leopard, like a big cats and drove past there 2 times seeing it twice. It was just a black kitten of course.

Mermaids - Obviously long voyage sailors, were mistaking seals or walruses for them, or sometimes maybe they were women on beaches.

Fountain of Youth - Maybe inspired by the fact there are wells, with good mineral water supposed to help people's health

Vampires, - they have that Brazilian bat which sucks cows blood

Thunderbird - Sea Eagles can get 4 foot tall

Mokele mbembe - Rhinos, and Hippos, and Crocodiles, maybe crocodiles make hippos do some thing which helps them do a unusual form of hunting which looks like hippo is different to what it is as it so scared and sounds like it is roaring and it maybe causes animal and people to then get disorientated and eaten by the crocs.

Mongolian Death Worm - Electric eels are worm like and release electricity that in theory can kill a person, Also some sea snakes are poisonous Some caterpillars are too. poisoning when eaten.

And certain kinds of parasitic worms that can poison people, and paralyse, them that if taken out, see the person healthy straight away. There are also certain kinds of ant that can kill. But the statement is that they can kill animals, and have even killed drunk people, then eat some people, that were around, they have killed some large animals, then eaten them,

Some centipedes, can make people stunned for a while after biting.

Witches - Doctors, and herbal medicine people

Bunyip - the Kangaroo, and Koala are said to resemble it in some myths, larger ones could be it.

Ghosts - Sheets, curtains moving, things falling off things, also those cave creatures, those white salamanders in some Croatian caves, they look ghostly.
